Margherita is amazing in the kitchen. I had the seafood pasta in a grilled "bowl" of eggplant. My girlfriend had the grilled seabass in a lemon mashed potato purée. Amazing! The deserts are a little too sugary for me, but I don't like sweets and the chef has won awards for her pastries. We paid €65 for wine, two entrees... More

We dined at L'insolita Zuppa due to its top ranking on TripAdvisor. Even though it was a long walk from our hotel, we decided to 'go for it.' We were rewarded with the best meal we've had on the Italian Riveria. The restaurant decor is that of an old trattoria. Lots of wood, bric-a-brac hanging from the ceilings and walls,... More

The owner/chef was the highlight of or visit that made the dining experience memorable. Great hospitality, lovely ambiance, and dishes prepared with love that shows in the presentation. We started with the Mixed Cheese Plate with house made jams -- we really enjoyed the selection. Next we had a 2 Variety Ravioli which she split for us with artful presentation... More

Don't miss L'insolita Zuppa! Our last meal on our 10 day trip to Italy in March 2014 was our best - it was a wonderful dining experience for our entire family of five (even better than some top-rated restaurants we visited in Florence!). The restaurant is tucked away in a Santa Margherita neighborhood and had fun walking there. The Italian... More

This is a very special resgtaurant. We recommend it to everyone. The food is different from every other place in Santa Margherita - more modern and interresting.

We dined at L'insolita Zuppa on a very wet night in October 2013 and it was one of the best experiences of our 10 day trip in Italy. The restaurant is clearly a labour of love for the owners/chef. The atmosphere is friendly and charming. The food was wonderful - fresh, home made, locally sourced and very flavorful. We enjoyed... More

If you want to eat a great meal in Santa Margherita, this is the right place. Just a few blocks off the main square, one has a chance to eat at a lovely restaurant in a neighborhood off the tourist track. The waitress and the chef couldn't have been more congenial or accommodating. Even though we arrived a bit earlier... More

My husband and I spent one week in the town of Santa Margherita. After venturing a little further into the town where the locals go, we discovered this restaurant. WHAT A FIND!!!! We decided to spend our last two nights dining here. While we reviewed the wine list, they suggested we spend less and go with the house wife by... More

Tucked down a side street next to the tennis club this restaurant is a must. Home made pasta with porcini & beautifully cooked sea bass to follow with an excellent Sicilian White wine which was the chef's suggestion. Great to discuss menu preferences with the lady chef who comes to your table with suggestions.
