Delicious and authentic!!!

Oh, what a sweet place this was! We were the only English speaking patrons at this family oriented restaurant, yet we felt welcome and at home and managed to communicate very nicely. This was a lovely restaurant, soft welcoming décor. It had received so many rave reviews that we thought to give it a try. I get the impression it is very popular with the locals. I can speak some Italian and usually do okay. But there was a strong language barrier that made ordering difficult and so our dining was disappointing.

Magical food and atmosphere, delicious fish ravioli with squid sauce, heavenly backed fish with artichokes, and absolutely fantastic lemon and basil sorbet at a very affordable price. Highly recommended!

Off the beaten track, away from the tourist area. A local restaurant run by two women, very friendly and good local food. Quite a variety of dishes, offering all the classic local fare. No thrills in this place, but good honest cooking.

This restaurant was a good walk from our hotel but we loved it so much we returned the next night for dinner! We are a large family and all 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed all of our lovely home cooked meals. The staff were fun and so welcoming. They made us feel like locals on our return. Highly recommended, great... More

Trip Adviser pointed us here and as usual we were rewarded by a great dining experience. The veal cutlets were excellent as well as the grilled vegetables that accompanied it. The service from family members was excellent. The place was full of Italians, but the staff enjoyed speaking with us about their food. We were even able to go back... More

This restaurant was great...the food was delicious and had a very homemade feel. The waitress and chef were so friendly, the chef even came out to shake our hand after the meal. I felt like I was eating at home with family. This place is not touristy at all and serves genuinely good food in a comfy, cozy, and warm... More

This was an unbelievable experience, finding this restaurant in Santa Margherita Ligure. Located up a little lane, you would never know it was there. But the food and the experience was by far the best we've had in this town. The chef is very inventive and each dish came out with unexpected and surprisingly exciting reactions from us. She said... Margherita is amazing in the kitchen. I had the seafood pasta in a grilled "bowl" of eggplant. My girlfriend had the grilled seabass in a lemon mashed potato purée. Amazing! The deserts are a little too sugary for me, but I don't like sweets and the chef has won awards for her pastries. We paid €65 for wine, two entrees... More

We dined at L'insolita Zuppa due to its top ranking on TripAdvisor. Even though it was a long walk from our hotel, we decided to 'go for it.' We were rewarded with the best meal we've had on the Italian Riveria. The restaurant decor is that of an old trattoria. Lots of wood, bric-a-brac hanging from the ceilings and walls,... More
