I've been eating in Claudio's restaurant for years. He's one of the old school, coming from several generations of hoteliers and restauranteurs. In all the time I've been coming, I've never had anything badly prepared, poorly presented, or improperly served. In the summer months, it is pleasant to sit outside on the terrace. It offers a real, Italian street-front restaurant... More

Jetset pretending, location is not outstanding, food is mediocre. It has an indoor room and some terrace tables. Did not meet our expectation at all.

Read some good reviews here and decided to give the restaurant a try. Hotel also recommended it. Big mistake! Food was poor (compared to what we'd been having in the area!). Quality of food was poor - had fish cooked in a bag, which was very, very dry! Didn't stay for dessert or coffee. Better options elsewhere.

I am amazed that the Clients have made two bad reviews (Foodnwinentravel - Rackiec) on our restaurant. I remember them very well because they were served by me and we have also spoken of Australia, their country of origin, and Basel, where they live now. What is most striking is the fact that you complimented with me for the quality... More

we read the reviews and decided to treat ourselves. BIG MISTAKE. The food was at best average compared to La Laura in San Fruttoso and Gianni Franzi in Vernazza which we highly recommend and at its low point was boil in the bag to the point of hard fish - actually it was like something my maiden aunt in Australia... Il Gambero is definitely not your average Italian restaurant. It offers an original menu which does not disappoint with decent service. However, it fails to give you an unforgettable meal. The experience is also spoilt by ridiculous portions (4 big raviolis as a primo) and prices that you will nevetheless remember (100€ for two, with one glass of wine each).... More

We have traveled to Italy on numerous occasions and have had plenty of amazing meals, but allowing the owner of Hotel Riviera to choose our meal provided us with our best meal yet. Every single item was so fresh and cooked perfectly. We even went to the store they recommended to buy one of the condiments they served with prosciutto.... More

We did the tasting of typical Ligurian cuisine, together with typical Ligurian wines. The owner, Claudio, was very attentive and friendly, explaining every detail. My wife ate the best gnocchi of her life.

We ate in quite a few restaurants during our stay in the area and "Il Gambero" was the best. Extremely fresh produce, fantastic flavours and dishes that have a touch of "savoir faire" compared to many other restaurants. The menu also changes from day to day depending on what the market place has to offer. Freshness, flavour and FABULOUS! Not... More

nice place, perfect service and good food, too bad the street is so near, the smell of the passing mopeds is not really compatible with the excellent food served -> take a table inside...

Had an excellent meal of fresh shrimp followed by white chocolate mousse with watermelon ice. One of the best meals I have had. Reasonable at less than 40 euros including wine and water. I sat outside though there was some traffic noise. Plenty of well to do locals ate there. Very authentic.
