This is a truly authentic place close to the main train station. The interior is very simple and functional, no effort put into the ambience, because that is not what ppl come here for. It's the food and its prices. They have a hand written menu that changes frequently based on what was available at the market, offering meat, seafood... More

This is a workingman's eating house or a starving artists eating house. This is Genova`s equivalent of the Katz deli on the lower east side. Be quick as you will not get a set by 12-30pm.Two pastas and bread and water-10 euros.

It is a typical place to eat for a competitive price Italian food. You can eat two dishes for 10 € and 12€ including the dessert. I ate the traditional genovese sauce pesto with pasta and a beef stew with eggplant and tomato sauce. Both were really good and tasty. Good quality for value.

We visited here after reading some decent reviews on Tripadvisor. It is tucked down a side alley and if it wasn't for the neon sign near the alley would have missed it. A very rustic local place, don't expect fine dining, you won't get it here! The menu is hand written in Italian and the staff do not speak English... More

I decided to go to this restaurant with a colleague, after having read some positive reviews. It is a big pity that it is open only for lunch. Anyway, with a tourists' menu you pay 10 euro and you receive two dishes, plus bread and beverage. The restaurant is a tipical trattoria with the interiors of a "poor" tavern but... More

I am alone in Italy and have to eat by myself most of the time. I go to Da Mario often because lots of single people go there to eat. At lunch, it's a workingman's restaurant. If they're busy, they will put you at a table with someone else which is a great way to practice your Italian. A little... More

Find this restaurant off Via Aprile XXV and you are in for a treat at unbelievable prices don't expect fine dining though as it is rustic simple food cooked well. The only menu is a piece of paper on the table totally in Italian. Great experience at lunchtime.

I had the chance to visit this popular local restaurant during my stay in Genoa. It was rustic with shared wooden tables with red plaid clothes, hand written menus and simple yet true home style cooking. Genoese cuisine (pesto, etc.) + reasonable prices.

We went there because of many good reviews on TA. It was good value for money, but we expected more. There was no english menu, but the waiter tried to explain it, although it's hard to remember two pages of menu. We had pasta with genovese pesto (and potatoes and spring beans) and some kind of cheese with paprika (we... More
