This hidden-away trattoria is lovely and authentic. Foreigners should be advised that the menu is very local, it is hand-written in cursive and so hard to decipher, and not arranged the way it is in restaurants (antipasti, piatti, etc.). If you do not speak any Italian, it would be hard to order, as there was no one speaking English around.... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant while roaming the alleys of Genova. The quality of the food and reasonable prices explain why it can be hard to get a table.

Excellent, homemade, fresh food!!! :) Friendly service and very helpful to non-Italian speakers and tourists. The lady who helped me decipher the menu was very sweet and patient. They have an English printed menu of all meals just not the day menu, but it's very helpful. It's a no frills environment, just great cooking! Don't miss eatimg at this restaurant... More

Tucked up a side street, Trattoria da Maria is good for simple, no nonsense, home cooking for lunch. When I visited they had about 4 or 5 first and second course selections. Grilled or fried fish, soup and fruit for dessert.

We go there after reading critics in TripAdvisor. The food was acceptable but not something interesting. The service was not good and also if you don't talk Italian is a problem. Also the cleanliness was very bud that is very important for me.

Read the reviews about this place on here & it's exactly right.no frills & not amazing but hey amazing food all homecooked oh & price wise extremely reasonable. The only down side I would say is the menu is in Italian which is a slight problem if you don't understand it but the waitress spoke a little English & explained... More

I've been going to Trattoria da Maria for years now and it's a fantastic place to try some traditional Genoese cuisine as well as some traditional Italian dishes. Mind you, it's a very rustic place (hence the name trattoria which means a simple restaurant serving simple food) and is not a somewhere you would bring someone on a date or... More

This place is very much about the experience. It's a local eatery with a homey vibe, don't expect exceptional food or fancy service. The beauty of this place is the fact that it's like being at a relative's house, very informal, very no-frills. And it's GREAT because of that! The prices are reasonable and I'd say it's something you should... More

Maria is a kind of cornerstone of Genoese restaurants. Among the cheap ones, it is the best, period. Maybe if you're not used to the so-called "genoese welcome" you could find Da Maria a bit odd, but, trust me, as soon as you taste its marvelous food, everything will become like a dream
