We went there because of many good reviews on TA. It was good value for money, but we expected more. There was no english menu, but the waiter tried to explain it, although it's hard to remember two pages of menu. We had pasta with genovese pesto (and potatoes and spring beans) and some kind of cheese with paprika (we... More

From ambience to service to cuisine, this place is the real deal. A must-do lunch spot if you're in Genoa - not to mention with super-reasonable prices. The pesto genovese did not disappoint! Among the most memorable quick lunch stops ever.

A real trattoria Genovese with genuine, hearty homemade food. Fantastic! Quick and friendly service, a real taste of Genova in the heart of the historical centre. And unbelievably good value for money! Unmissable!

We visited beautiful Genoa mid-July 2014 with my wife, an ate at Da Maria twice! The food and the service was great. We had spagetti with pesto (traditional Genoa type), veggie dishes, fish with veggies, and tiramisu. All were very tasty. Red wine of the house was very good too. Prices were quite reasonable. İf you are a serious gourmet,... More

Excellent tasty food, really quick and friendly service. Very good value. 3 courses + drink about 13€ Menu in Italian but waitress was really helpful. A lot of local people came into eat whilst we were there which was a good sign. Decor looks a bit like your grandmother's bathroom. Best advised to sit upstairs.

We tried out this little trattoria after reading the reviews on trip advisor and we were not disappointed. The pesto was excellent and the house wine just as good. It's not a fancy place and more a little side alley restaurant but it's Great value, highly recommended and would definitely go back !

The trouble with going to Trattoria da Maria on one's first day in Genoa is that you won't want to eat anywhere else! Tucked away in an alley off Via XXV Aprile, a short walk from Piazza Ferrari, it offers impeccable fresh local specialities off a daily-changing menu at low prices, in a bustling but friendly atmosphere. Frequented by local... More

Packed for lunch with locals and well-read tourists, this amazing, long standing (50 plus year) venue seems like an institution in a side lane not far from piazza del Ferrari. Felt like a set price for three courses, started with awesome pasta with pesto and followed by a cold salad of octopus and potatoes. Simply brilliant, simple and local cuisine.... More

Good cheap and cheerful local Ligurian cuisine. I had fantastic ravioli, honestly the best ravioli of my life. Very interesting down-to-earth local's canteen ambience, with construction workers and such. Was the only foreigner there. Limited evening hours, so check ahead. Worth planning your trip around a visit here. Oh, also, cheaper than dirt.

We visited this popular local restaurant a couple of times during our stay in Genoa. It was very rustic with shared wooden tables, hand written menus and simple home style cooking. The food was really delicious and reasonably priced.
