So worth the trip!

You have to visit this place, tucked back in Vernazza. As they say..."you come here for the food, not view!" Delicious coffee and pastries, wonderful local dishes, friendly greetings and humor by the twin brothers who own, cook and operate this little jewel! Be prepared to bust your diet! Best breakfast place in Vernazza!!, excellent pastries and very good service. They just don't serve regular american food for breakfast.

I am not exaggerating, i had the best pastry of my life here. The owners are sicilian and absolutely hilarious. We ordered pastry that has ricotta in it. Sounded wow, tasted beyond wow!!! Also, tried other signature pastries the owners recommended. The owners are known to make 200 different kinds of pastries during summer. i went in april, they had... More

We loved Il Pirata! The brothers that own this restaurant are marvelous! It was definitely the best food we had on our month long European vacation. And we had some great meals The service is excellent, personal and entertaining. Have desert even if you're stuffed. The panna cotta is wonderful.

Our family was made to feel as if we were at home...except for the meals! We started with an afternoon tea and finished with dinner. Great food, great ambience. The Parmigiana Eggplant was heaven, but was trumped by the Seafood Starter of calamari, prawns, lobster, octopus drizzled with a delicious sauce. Make sure you treat yourself here when you visit... While it's true that Il Pirata has no view, sitting on the road at the top of town, you won't care when you start eating. Everyone seems to know it's the best eatery in town, too, judging from the packed house (make a dinner reservation). We enjoyed breakfast there most of the time because the pastries and coffee and blood... More

One of my favorite restaurant experiences on my family's trip across Italy. Il Pirata is run by Sicilian twin brothers who LOVE food. I had an eggplant dish which was very tasty.. but the desserts were to die for, esp the cannoli and panna cotta. Do your stomach a favor and make a reservation at Il Pirata!

We stumbled upon this place one evening and were lucky enough to grab a table outside. The food was sooo amazing that we immediately made reservations for dinner for the next night as one couple in our group was not with us at the time. We knew that they had to give this place a try. The Lasagna Bolognese was... More
