We were recommended this place from the best western we were staying at and was not disappointed. Out of the two weeks we visited Italy afterwards, nothing came close. The atmosphere was of a small tavern family run for generations. It was filled with families and groups that looked like they made this place theirs. The most polite Italian's in... More

When you, as a reviewer, clicks a 5-star score on "overall rating", TA responds with the question "Is this one of the best meals you've ever had in a restaurant?" Rarely, if ever, I would answer with "yes". But for Alla Vedova, if the question would have been "Is this one of the best grilled chickens you've tasted?" my wife... More

We visited here as we were recommended by the hotel we were staying in. The owner spoke broken English so you could order what you want without any risks. The chicken cooked on the grill was brilliant and the semifredo desert melted in your mouth. Also a bottle of local wine was only €4.

This is an authentic Italian place, very cosy , nice atmosphere . The food is regional which is very good to try and it is a restaurant with long tradition . The service is great they will help you with the menu if you do not speak Italian. All kind of gnocchi they have are a recommendation to try .... More

The food, the service, the physical makeup of the restaurant itself, the extra effort everyone seemed willing to put in to make sure we, as English- only speakers, understood and enjoyed ourselves.

Let me refer to previous reports re: the great quality and taste of the grilled meats and the friendly service. This review deals with the restaurant as a little museum of Friulan history. The great novelist, Ernest Hemingway (see "A farewell to arms") knew this restaurant well, and must have been similarly pleased as we were at all occasions.

We repeat our highly positive review made one year ago, when revisiting this traditional restaurant-cum-grillroom. The grilled meats are fantastic, and special mention should be made of the "pollo al diavolo" - the grilled chicken as the devil would have prepared it. The realtime "devil" is a sun of the Zamorian family that runs the restaurant, I think, ever since... More

Just went with my family. Service very good. Food very good. Apart from the chicken alla diavola, the first courses choice was very good.

This family-run restaurant is locally famous and I recommend it to make a detour for. Solid Italian food is prepared, but the masterpiece is, without doubt, the big fireplace on which excellent grilled meats are prepared. Be sure to get a set close to it, if you can stand the heat! The family also owns an olive tree com vireyard... More
