This place was recommended to us by a local and did not disappoint. It's not a flashy looking place nor is it touristy. We were baffled with choices but our waiter helped us to decide on a tasting plate that way we could try several dishes. Attention to detail for every dish was amazing. The flavours and herbs and spices... More

Hidden behind the castle, at the very end of a small street, Antipastoteca di Mare is not an easy place to stumble across. Two of my favorite, wonderful fish tavernas for both ambiance and food are Sunger in Bodrum, Turkey and Fish Taverna in Lorret de Mar, Spain, and It was great to walk into Antipastoteca and find another Italian... Walked in and was refused service and had patrons checking us up and down. Felt like it was the first time they saw a person that is not white.

We were directed to this amazing little trattoria for our first lunch in Trieste, we had said we wanted to eat fresh local fish at a reasonable price. Well this is the place! The ambience is quirky and the tables are few but it's a testimony to the quality of the food and the service that this restaurant is always... More

This tasteful restaurant is a small place located within walking distance from downtown Trieste and its beautiful Piazza Unità d'Italia. Here you can have traditional dishes including the amazing zuppa di pesce (fish soup) served with polenta, sardoni, anchovies, seabass, bream and many others. Don't forget to get mussels as well. Local fresh seafood of the day at reasonable price... More

Found by chance close to the castle, few tables and warm atmosphere. Served by the owner/chef, suggesting and explaning us the dishes; Wonderful mussels, potato and bean soup and the fish soup. In the end, cafe comes in the moka: wow!!!

if you are in trieste don't miss it! we tried its award-winning brodetto and it was a revelation! we also recommend "antipasti misti", the perfect choice if you want to try the genuine fish- based cuisine in trieste. the atmosphere is casual and not pretentious, yet warm and welcoming. the chef is helpful and really into his work!

Very quaint and unexpected. Great food. Fish soup is delicious. The owner is very accommodating and charming. Would definitely return. Although welcoming for children, it may be too much "fish" food for the little ones.

I really can't put into words the flavors I experimented in this restaurant! Positive aspects: *They bring the food quite fast. *They have a "menu of the day" based on fresh fish that they get in the local market. *You get drink (could be wine) + antipasto + first/second dish = 20 EUR. An excellent price, given the superb quality!... More
