maybe not cheap, exception done for the take-away sandwiches, but here you can eat the best typical pork-meat dishes of Trieste, I recommend "carrè" and "porzina" (with a lot of horseradish of course!), simply delicious. You have to try it if you come in Trieste!

The buffet "da Pepi" is a must-visit place, because is part of the (gastronomic) history of Trieste. It is not elegant, just good, but it is famous for his pork meat - ("porzina") - sausages and specialties of Central Europe. It is located in the very hearth of the city, so it is an ideal stop if you are in... More

Da Pepi's has been serving up tradition Trieste cuisine for the past 120 years. The local is tiny, plainly decorated with ho-hum service. Nevertheless, the food is excellent. The primary features on the menu are a vast assortment of boiled meats, a standard staple in this region of Italy. My favorite is the boiled pork (porcine), but there are all... More

One of the most characteristic restaurant you can find!these kind of pork meat is absolutely the best choice you can have : all the flavors invites you to eat at any time . from 8.00 am till they close! A part of Austrian food with Italian fashion!

Da Pepi is a Triestino institution, a temple of all things porcine, and a vegetarian's nightmare. Its simple dated decor, off hand service and reek of pork fat and sauerkraut are more evocative of its Austrian past than its present day Italian location. Borders come and go, but da Pepi's still serves pork and beer to the people of Trieste... More

This is a Trieste tradition located just off Borsa square where the Russian American and British sectors of the city met when it was an international administered zone after WW!!. The food is simple being all parts of a pig prepared and cooked on a large griddle plate. The thing to order is a Piatto Misto. A mixed plate which... More

This is a local restaurant serving all the sorts of boiled meats that were introduced whilst Trieste was part of the Austro Hungarian empire. So its definitely not the Italian cuisine that you would normally expect to find in Italy. They just don't do the pasta/primo/secondo/ etc. routine. The food was fine - if you like boiled meat and sauerkraut... More

A temple of porky goodness with the atmosphere of an old style deli. No nonsense service with both inside and outside seating with a busy counter. Although my Italian is nearly non-existent the banter between the countermen and customers sounded like what one would hear in a NY deli. A must do if you're in Trieste.

I was expecting a better experience in this restaurant. The position is very good (few step away from Piazza Unità d'Italia) and there are many people that sit here to eat something. I think that this is the meaning because this place is still open. The dishes they serve are the poor dishes from the local tradition: boiled meats with... More

I went there for dinner, I had heard about this place from my italian friends. I decided to eat the mixed dish and red wine as it is suggested in the menu. It was good, tasty, enough food for one person, perhaps if you are really hungry it's not enough... but i had that feeling about something was missing. Service... More
