Funny place at downtown

Very special place in downtown of Trieste in walking area. Concept made of simple menu (boiled pork meat served at place or "to take"). Was attracted with lot of local people who are taking food to home. Interesting to take good fast food & draft beer.

Ended up going for lunch best choice is the mixed pork platter with mustard and grated horse raddish + fried veggies on the side all washed down by beer or local wine - simply delicious but not for the squmish pure fat is served on that plate 😄😄- great friendly staff - we couldn't make dessert but the ladies next... Don't miss out on this classic establishment for over a 120 years they have been serving smoked and pickled meats the old fashioned way. They now have outside tables. Real fancy! NOT. Classic and great. There may be cheaper places but this one resonates with history.

The temple of typical "caldaia", i.e., boiled pork meat (porcina, cotechino, lingua, pancetta...). The quality is good, the pleasure is diminished by the scant selection of drinks (just a standard pilsen beer and no wine list to speak of). While the price of sandwiches is still reasonable, the mixed platters are too expensive.

I asked my hotel reception what the most authentic moderately priced meal in town was! Pepi ticked all the boxes and also gave me an insight into the Habsburg influence through the region. Being Austrian I felt right at home with the selection and preparation of the mountain of pork that was served ! I asked for a aperol spritz... More

Arrived in Trieste late on a Saturday and looking for somewhere to eat came upon this place which serves the pig in all its forms it transpires it has been doing it since before Trieste was italian and it was a most interesting experience.Very relaxed and laid back we had a platter of everything porcine from snout to tail and... Snout to tail and it's all delicious! Great place for lunch. Watch the local business people munch their pork sandwiches, but if you are there only once treat yourself to a platter with everything including the freshly grated horseradish you won't regret it. It's a place for lunch, not dinner.

Great to try the typical local dish at pepi. Basically you get a big plate of meat, all different cuts of pork and sausages. Wash it down with a beer and you are set for the afternoon. Worth a visit of you are in town for a few days.

They prepare and serve every part of the piggy, short of the oink. Delicious, tender pork sandwiches. Relaxed atmosphere - sit outside and watch the world go by.

A delicious sharing plate of pork - the original nose to tail experience. Wasn't sure which parts I was eating but didn't really need (or want) to know! Definitely a "locals" place but equally welcoming to visitors.
