We had lunch here in late Dec 2014. For its rustic meat dishes and decor the pricing was well over the odds. Food was fine for what it was, but value extremely poor. Waiter was unhelpful, e.g. he failed to give us a menu, then railroaded our choice, after denying we could have a Panino di porcina (pork sandwich), even... More

BUFFET DA PEPI Another Trieste classic you can't miss! This is similar in "authenticity" to Trattoria Da Giovanni. Prices in proportion are a bit higher here, but it's a must visit for tourists who want to experience the real local taste. Da Pepi, also called "Pepi Sciavo" informally in Trieste (Sciavo is pronounced "schah-voh" and it's a very informal and... More

A must in Trieste for real meat lovers. Needless to say anything else. Authentic, delicious and homey.

If you like boiled porc, this ist the place to go when in Trieste. You can choose fro a vide variety, get great Sauerkraut along with it, mustard & freshly grated horseradish; it is actually a snack but you won't need anything more to eat for the rest of the day... and the atmosphere is unique, especially in the interior... I was looking for a place to eat a nice sandwich . I ordered a cheese panini, and I ended up with a piece of ordinary cheese between stale bread, not the slightest trace of garniture, or a drop of sauce. 6€ for that a,d a bottle of water is a shame .

My very good friend told me about this buffet and toke me inside. Not very much to see inside and do not expect smiling faces from the staff they are all old school waiters dealing with a lot of people(2 times I was in this buffet and it was crowded with germans, austrians, english and local guests of course). It isnt the... More

This is a must when in Trieste. Old school Italian deli with the most delicios assortement of everything pork. I would recommend salami plate to the first time visitors and porchetta sandwich with horseradish and mustard when just passing by. But don't forget to make it a regular pit-stop.

If you want to live like a local, then have at least one meal here Its simple, basic, but perfect. The pork melts when you eat it, well portioned too, remember this is really a lunch time snack diner. Anyway, will definitley go back when I next visit the area
