I had read a bit about this caffe and went there with very high hopes. And I'm happy to say that all my expectations were fulfilled! The environment is adorable, you feel like you're being transported to another era. And there are so many books nearby!! Though most of them are in Italian, and therefore useless to me, you can't... The Caffe' San Marco is part of the Trieste tradition for spending time to meet friends or read a book while getting a coffee. Its old-fashioned flavour tells you about decades and decades of middle-class life style, dating back even to the old time of Absburg Empire. Still you can get there a good coffee or cocktail, or even a... More

While visiting the beautiful city of Trieste you absolutely need to stop there... Take your time, look at the beautiful place and order a coffee (or several if you want to stay longer!) with some delicious pastries! The atmosphere is quite relaxed (I saw some people reading their course during all my stay there) and you could stay there for... More

What a beautiful, historical, comfortable cafe! The coffee was very good. One server was simply business-like, but another was rather cheerful. A place where I could hang out for hours. Fine bookstore to browse.

Love the coffee and the location, but the staff were pretty stretched, so I felt we had to wait a long time for our drinks. Certainly worth a visit as it's a beautiful building and has lots of history

I'm used to travel and visiting Trieste and I can recommend many place but this one is special 'cause the location is designed and light on beautifully, giving an intimate, cosy and friendly atmosphere; the owner and all the staff are welcoming and very helpful and – first of all – you can find great wine and coffee or tea,... This historic café has a new owner. He took ownership the day we stopped in for lunch in late October. Both owner and bar manager greeted us warmly and apologized that my soup order was delayed. Their eagerness to please was evident. When I said I was getting hungry, Nicolas brought me bread, Brie and another beer, a lovely gesture... More
