Lovely old building with high domed ceiling. Most restaurants don't open until 7 or 7.30 but this one was already serving evening meals by 6.30. The food was very good and reasonably priced

The restaurant is in the centre of Ravenna, in what was an ancient drugstore. The Castrato was delicious. The piadina with cured ham and squaquerone cheese excellent, and the price sensible. The only note was the noise: in the glass roofed dehor it was a bit loud.

One dish out of four we ordered was 5 star, the strozzapreti. One was very good, 4 star, the maccheroni strigoli. The fish dish for my second plate was good but nothing special. We found the place by walking in the city and had our lunch there. The food came immediatly, was really tasty, simple and traditional for the place. From the piadina and salad till the meat - was all tasty and fresh cooked. Really convinient "kid' s menu" - costs 12 euro and had great portions, the children were more then... More

Our guide, Roberta Merendi, of Guide and Company Day Tours accompanied us here for lunch, and we were so lucky to have found it...had a chance to sample the local specialties, which we would otherwise have missed. This is where the locals eat.

This is a beautiful wine bar where the wine is excellent and bar snacks are plentiful. We ate there and the food is good and service was good. It is very popular with the locals

A heaving restaurant where everyone sits on communal tables to eat piadine - the Ravenna version of flat bread. A vast array of local wines is on offer and regional food specialities. Full of families and locals. This is the place to go if you want a really local experience with fabulous food.

If you want a good restaurant with the feel of the area, try Ca' de' Ven. Piadine, tortellini e tagliatelle with rabbit ragu were all excellent. Don't forget to admire the frescoes on the ceiling!
