Description: The atmosphere is as sophisticated as an old 40's black and white movie...
The atmosphere is as sophisticated as an old 40's black and white movie, but at the same time, as inviting, creative and warm as a contemporary New York restaurant. The cuisine, with meat and fish specialities, is characterised by a tradition which has been reinterpreted in an exquisitely creative manner. In addition to the air-conditioned interiors, in summertime one can dine on the outside terrace. The Owner, Sante Milandri has been a restaurant owner since 1982. In 1998 he left "Bistrot Clardge" in Cesenatico (one of the first restaurants on the Riviera to focus on a refined clientele, as well as a younger one) and he moved to Ravenna where he set up the Spasso Bistro. The interior designer and co-owner of the Alexander restaurant carried out the refurbishment work in full respect of the history of the building. The first reports dating back to 1840 when it was used as a residence and later like restaurant. The seating capacity is sixty in what was once the stalls and a further forty seats are available in the circle.

This restaurant was one of the few open on the night we were there but it looked good and the menu was attractive. The service was excellent as was the meal.We ordered a chocolate fondant pudding but were served something that looked like a lavender mouse (I do mean mouse not mousse). We convinced ourselves that we had misread the... More

Impressed by previous TA reviews we went expecting a great meal...our expectations were surpassed by a considerable degree. We both concluded that the meals we had were quite possibly the best we had eaten in a restaurant. We were so delighted that we went back the following evening which was our last night in Ravenna for another meal. The chef's... More

One of the best meals we have ever had in Italy (where one of us was born). Clever, innovative takes on old traditions. We had two fine and unusual pastas then delicious fish (Friday night) morsels and dessert, which we often skip... Service attentive and smooth, good wine advice (a white exclusive to Emilia Romagna), prices reasonable, and funky cinema... More

Earlier in the week we were brought to a cinema restaurant in Ravenna by our Italien colleagues. See my other review. They left and we wanted to go again. No clue about the name. So google here we come. Cinema restaurant, Ravenna. The Alexander popped up. We went and when we walked to the restaurant and we realize that this... More

Must try. The service was very good, staff was extra attentive, describing every dish, asking for allergies before ordering extra.... Food was awesome, especially the starter with pumpkin seeds! And plates looked like a painting, you hesitate to touch and watch for a few seconds...

After reading the TripAdvisor reviews, we weren't exactly sure what to expect but we LOVED what we found. A quirky, entertaining dining room run by a completely welcoming staff serving an absolutely delicious, inventive meal. We had such a terrific meal the first night, we went again for several dishes we hadn't had room to try the first night --... More

We went there for dinner after reading some good reviews and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant itself, set-up in an old cinema, offers a unique atmosphere, with large volumes, mixing retro-style furniture with more modern features, resulting in a very stylish and original place. The food is simply excellent - if you don't know what to try, just go with... More

Creative, delicious menu degustazione from a young chef already making his mark. A great idea to rescue this old cinema and turn it into a restaurant. Not a trattoria but an experience in sophisticated Italian cuisine and good value for money.
