An old favorite.

I discovered this place 20 years ago and have NEVER had a bad experience there. Dependable, traditional, delicious Parmesan food. Discrete service. Good price/quality relationship and central location.

All Parma restaurants were full for lunch, but luckly we found a table in this restaurant right in the centre of Parma. The antipasto and the primi were really good apart from the Torta di Parma which we left as it was too fatty and smelly: we ate our prosciuttos with the much nicer bread. As primi we had tortelli... !Usually the restaurants in Para are very good. I have been in Gallo dÓro before, and it was quite good then. Now again, I had a pasta with spinache, which was really good. But the meat was actually not good. I asked for sangue, but it was too far cooked. Yet, it was only hlf warm when served. Lots of... More

My husband and I ate here on the second last night of our 3 week trip of Italy and thought it may have been the best meal that we had. We had a prosciutto plate to start and I had the prosciutto risotto. It was rich but so so delicious. My husband had the pork cheeks and thought it was... More

Friendly helpful service in a ver pleasant setting. Couldn't go past the "fried bread" and plate of mixed prosciutto and salami. Tried the rabbit - a great success. Definitely a recommended place to eat. Also went twice to the associated trattoria Corrieri, a rather more local feel there but similar food.

Nice place off of the crowded main road. Menu was in English. And popular with locals and tourists. Food and service were fine, sat in outside porch.

The staff rearranged tables to squeeze our family group of 6 in without a reservation. The crowd rolled in as soon as the place opened at 7.30pm, and the restaurant was soon buzzing with a mix of locals and tourists. It seemed like more locals than tourists, with a few family groups with kids. The atmosphere was festive, and our... More

It seems almost impossible to find bad food in Emilia-Romagna and this restaurant was no exception. we started with a simple bruschetta but tomatoes were so fresh and the olive oil was so good that it was better than the most elaborate meal. then we shared a mixed ravioli plate, which was also good but not very special and we... We had a reunion of friends at Gallo D'Oro today. This is last full day we will be Italy this year. After a 27 day trip through Umbria, Cioggia, and Venice we find that the found around and in Parma is still the best. We had risotto guancalle. Both were great.

Six of us had a wonderful dinner at this place on our first night in Parma. There was an extensive menu with lots of local food choices. The Parma hams, cheeses and salami was wonderful. Everyone enjoyed the variety of pastas. Believe them when they say "LARGE" salad! So big they would be a meal for a lumber Jack.
