Our First Meal In Parma

Our landlord recommended this as a restaurant frequented by locals, so we decided to check it out our first evening in Parma. The service was good, the food even better. It is a home cooking kind of place-more like your noni's kitchen. Everything we had was tasty, and the portions were very large... read more

Tucked away down a small side street, this place delivers high quality food for what looked like mostly locals. Excellent staff and service -- very friendly and accommodating. The food was fresh and tasty!

A group of friends and myself went out to grab some dinner at this restaurant and it was great! The food was delicious and the service was pleasant. Added bonus, they take American Express!

Located down. A small, quaint street, this is a nice restaurant to visit while in Parma. Restaurant motif is unique and you will catch yourself wanting to walk around inside. Check out the dining area downstairs, very cool. Service is not great but not terrible, very limited beer selection but nice wines. If you are burnt out on carbs and want... More

Shortly after arriving in Parma and finding our B&B, hunger encouraged us to search for Gallo d’Oro Ristorante which had been recommended by and described in The Rough Guide as “a little trattoria on quiet side street.” My travel companion and I both enjoyed their delicious “pumpkin-filled ravioli sautéed in butter sage sauce” with a glass of wine and deemed... Excluding drinks we ate well for around €10 each - recommend. Good service - menu in several languages - good selection of courses - we all enjoyed our pasta and risotto with few extra side dishes - on the whole dishes were tasty and generous. Good wine list and we had a nice bubbly rosé

We had dinner here with friends and enjoyed it very much. We ate a chicken salad and some eggplant and both were great. The wine was also good. Our waiter was helpful and friendly and was able to create separate checks for us. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This is an old traditional trattoria whose walls are decorated with black and white photos of old movie stars. Having eaten rather too much 'torta fritta' earlier, we were ready for something lighter and Gallo d'Oro obliged with their chicken and fennel salad and another of gorgeously light goat's cheese that just hit the spot. Giant slicing machines for the... More

Excellent traditional food, decent service. I had torta fritta, culatello, prosciutto, parmiggiano, a trio of cappellacci, all washed down with a very good lambrusco wine. Not the place to go if you are looking for the latest fashion in food, but who really needs that?

Busy restaurant serving the local specialities. Try a plate of assorted cold cuts and Parmesan cheese served with a cold, dry red Lambrusco, followed by a selection of their filled ravioli. Very nice lunch, thank you!
