Fantastic, local cuisine

Half hidden away near Parma is this jewel of Emilia Romagna cuisine. The food uses local seasonal ingredients prepared mostly in traditional ways. We just had a fantastic lunch at ai Due Platani trattoria in Coloreto (Parma). They make your pasta from scratch after you've done ordered. After 10 days in Italy, it was the best I've had. The veal tenderloin with tuna sauce was excellent. Service was impeccable.

I made reservations based upon what I read here. As I was driving out with my husband, I began to have my doubts. We went through some rather seedy areas and then we ended up spotting the restaurant on a more residential street in an unassuming building. But, the minute the door was opened, the decor, ambiance, and wait staff... More

I find the food spectacular every time, along with friendly service and a really good wine list - real, not just on paper. Only problem is you have to book ages in advance to find a table at the weekend.

Located some 10 min car ride outside the center. As it is summer, they had only garden sitting. Casual and comfortable setting. Located in the country, no noise, lots of greens around, perfect for a relaxing evening. Giancarlo helped us with English. Cheerful, extremely polite and most importantly very sincere. One of those people who loves what he is doing.... More

I was able to have a table at this trattoria, which is always fully booked, and I was amazed by the menu. Traditional italian dishes, French Nouvelle cuisine and a lot of original recipes. I was skeptic but I had a taste of 6 of the most interesting and technically most challenging dishes and I was amazed. Such a mastery... More

This was the 1st dinner I had in my Italian trip with my husband. The atmosphere, the food, the service and the value of food really blew me away! Although the waiter did not speak fluent English, he tried his very best to introduce me the dishes and recommended the very good signature dishes and wine to us. The restaurant... More

We ate very well throughout our stay in Parma, but this restaurant ranked at the top of our dining experiences in that justly renowned food capital. Everything we tried was brilliantly executed: quail risotto, tortelli with a subtle and complex pumpkin filling, breast of guinea hen, cod in a pastry shell, and the the tour-de-force ice cream dessert. Service was... More

The restaurant is a "country restaurant" and is a 15 minute ride from town. IMHO it is worth the trip. We had a raw sea food plate, spaghetti in a sardine sauce (my first ever), duck, and (home made) vanilla ice cream. All entrees were made from fresh ingredients. The half-bottle of red recommended by the waiter was superb. Service... More

I loved everything. The quality of the food was outstanding. We were on business and the owner of the restaurant opened the place for us on a day, on which it is otherwise closed. Service was excellent, when we paid we did not have to pay everything, a bottle of Primitivo di Manduria was a gift, which was a very... More
