I'm reviewing this harshly because it's a restaurant in Bologna specialising in Bolgnese food. If it were just a generic tourist restaurant I might rate it average but expectations were higher here. The restaurant talks the talk: smartly presented in a nicely renovated basement. Fully booked with predominantly Italian diners when I tried to get in on Sunday, so I... More

Authentic Bolognese food I suggest to the owners to add English to their Menu Would recommend the chicken and Mayo for starter and fagoli soup

The rudeness of the staff and the general distain we experienced overwhelmed everything else. In fact I was so outraged by the experience I forgot, or did not bother, to record what dishes we ordered. It all started out with the complete lack of assistance given to us to understand the menu, despite it becoming completely obvious they were in... More

We did that thing you do when you blunder about looking for somewhere to stop for dinner. Our first choice, picked from trip advisor was closed so we wandered about in went in here. It turned out to be really good, absolutely no English translation on the menu - so it was bit pot luck. The owner said he didn't... More

Don´t really understand the negative opinions from some people here. Excellent Bolognese food and wines, all included for around 25€ , which is difficult to find in Italian touristic places. The only problem is that nobody spoke English, German, French or Spanish, and communication was a little dragging, but the owner and the waitresses were very nice and tried to... More

During our trip to Bologna we've seen a lot of incredible things. We sampled the glorious food at Al Sangiovese and were wowed by the contemporary food of Battibecco. We also saw the beautiful sights of Bologna and travelled to Modena to taste the most fantastic balsamic vinegar. It's safe to say we're food fanatics and we openly look for... More

Hello, I am one of the owners of Roberta Buca Manzoni. First of all I would like to apologize to you for having experienced what you described as his worst experience. This saddens me greatly because I and my husband (the chef) we are very open and willing to welcome in the best way. This is not the intention when... More

I did not choose to dine at Buca Manzoni by choice but with our original choice of restaurant being closed on a Sunday, our hotel recommended here as they had some space left. The hotel staff had told us of some complaints here of them not speaking that much English, however she had told the staff that we were English... More

Best lasagna I've ever had. Also, I'm still dreaming about the panna cotta! There may be better restaurants in Bologna, but this one is quite good.

Ate here last week and it was my worst experience in Italy. The waiting staff refused to take our order unless we spoke in Italian...even when we tried pointing it out on the menu! Service was slow and the food was poor

Having driven up from Rimini that morning in very heavy traffic, we hit the streets of Bologna around 14.00, starving, and looking for a late lunch. We saw a few people sitting outside Buca Manzoni, which is up a side street, so we went for it. As other reviewers have said, there was one waiter dashing about a bit, and... More
