Just a 5 minute walk from the Piazza Maggiore, this place was a little gem. Nicely presented and with a couple of interesting images projected onto one of the walls, we felt instantly at ease despite never normally eating in places as (for lack of a better word) fancy as this. Our waiter was brilliant, making all kinds of recommendations,... More

All the food we experienced in Bologna was truly excellent, but this restaurant was our favourite for the originality of its dishes and the elegance with which they were served. I perceived it as a kind of nouvelle cuisine, but Italian style: refined and beautifully presented, but cooked with a generosity of hand and heart (plenty to eat) and a... More

This place is exceptional, from warm service, great atmosphere and an excellent chef. You can even see him cooking through a window and salivate as he carefully plates lobster spaghetti (delish!). We had 3 nights in bologna and wished we ate here more. After sampling pastas from all of Italy, San Franzisco has hands-down the absolute best, perfectly cooked pastas.... More

Friendly service, tasty dishes and reasonable prices. The tables are a little bit tight, but it's the food that makes comfortable. Anything else needed?

I was rapt because of meal in this restaurant. It was the best food I have ever eat! Dish was amazing and very original. I ordered cooked octopus with green pasta! And I also tried grilled prawns with bacon, black rise and sauce. Delicious! If you visit Bologna you must go there! Prices are very good according to amazing food.

Try the mascarpone and liquorice and semi freddo fruits. Ravioli with pepper sauces was good. Fish linguini was with dried fish (?) and mint zucchini sauce was ok but a bit odd and not much fish. Good service and enough English to be ok.

We came her based on Trip Advisor reviews in Italian language as we thought we'd avoid the more touristy spots. It's away from the main signts of Bologna but still a short walk from the centre of town. The food is interesting and really well executed. It started to get really busy at about 10pm with locals and I can... More

First thing: this is not as cheap as it says in the profile - a dinner for two consisting of two primi, one secondo, one dessert and a bottle of beer cost us 58 euros. The restaurant is situated on a main road: the outdoor sitting was very noisy and we chose to sit inside. The service was excellent and... More

The San Franzisco is located in Piazza Malpighi in the heart of Bologna downtown. The restaurant is very little inside but it has a place for eat outside. The restaurant has a menu for the lunch and for the dinner but the dishes are only a few and it hasn’t a very large selection. The cuisine is refined but he... More
