Not Bad

Had dinner at La Montanara at the recommendation of our hotel. it was a good meal, we started with cheese, then may wife had monk fish and I had a steak. Food was prepared well and tasty. Service was ok, sort of nothing memorable either way. The decor was interesting, it's based on head boards hung... read more

I was very impressed by this place. It was my 4th time in Bologna so I was very familiar with the local cousine already.. and this place really stood out. Love the appetizer, meat dish, salad, and wine recommendation. Wait staff was also very nice and spoke very good english.

We ate here on the recommendation of our accommodation and we were not disappointed. The waitress was very knowledgeable, as I had asked for the salad without bacon as I am a vegetarian and she said it would be very boring. Instead she suggested the Quiche Lorraine, which normally contains ham, but she assured us that it was vegetarian. it... More

Enjoyed a really good meal here on the recommendation of Roberta from B&B Benelli, service was very good mostly and the place got very busy so worth booking as otherwise you might not get a table. There was a moment when there seemed to be shift change and another waitress appeared who seemed a little confused and out of her... More

We were so happy that some locals we met suggested we try La Montanara. Durning a five day visit to Bologna, we had lunch there twice. On the first visit, we had lasagne verdi, gramigna alla salsiccia, grilled vegetables and a local dessert called "tenerina", a semi-sweet chocolate cake. On the second visit, we had tagliorini alla cipolla, tagliatelle al... More

Excellent, excellent, excellent! The food here is nothing less than what your Nonna would have cooked. We went twice as this place is truly outstanding. All the pastas are excellent, but I strongly recommend the tagliatelle al ragú and the spaghetti alla cippolla. We also had the cotteletta alla bolognese (amazing!) and the tagliatte di manzo with ciccoria saltata (exactly... More

The restaurant is small and you need to make reservations or you will have a long wait or not be able to get in. The food is excellent and the service is great. Fresh pasta, salads and other dishes.

I this is the second time I have been here and it doesn't disappoint. This is a cute restaurant, ie small, ergo reservations are a must. There is outdoor seating and indoor seating. The food is really nice and authentic.

We had an average meal, nothing memorable (apart from the dry cake for dessert which I remember for the wrong reasons). It was also more expensive than other places we found in Bologna. I won't be rushing back. Especially as we found much better around the corner.

We were fortunate enough to get a table at this establishment twice during our six day stay in Bologna. On our first visit we were against the clock as we occupied a table booked by locals for forty minutes hence. We were hungry, and when the situation calls for it we can eat quick, we've been at it for while... More
