Delicious We had a table near the kitchen. It did not bother at alli liked to see how dedicated the staff works. It was was more then busy, but still made a little artworks of each dish.

We had walked a few hours that Saturday morning, were hungry and this trattoria just happened to be on our way. We entered the trattoria just after it had opened. We did not expect anything but what a nice surprise it was. Great, beautiful food. Most of the tables were reserved for the lunch so make a reservation if you... More

My husband and I stumbled upon Trattoria Gianni 8 years ago. We returned to Bologna a few days ago hoping to find it again - not having remembered the name. We did, however, remember the amazing lunch we enjoyed there which included tortellini en broto and gnocchi in tomato sauce. While getting our bearings in town, we stumbled upon it... More

Bologna is known for its great cuisine, and Trattoria da Gianni makes a point of serving quality Bolognese food. In two days in Bologna, I had the pleasure of going to this trattoria twice, and experiencing a variety of traditional plates. Among my selections were the mixed antipasto, with cold cuts and cheeses, tagliatelle with Bolognese ragu, Veal chop Bolognese... More

Have been twice now, and have had a superb meal both times. Great local food, made with high quality ingredients. The menu is typically Bolognese yet still manages to be varied. As a vegetarian I can often struggle in Bologna but there's always been at least a couple of things available on the menu. The service has been impeccable, and... More

Tucked away in a quaint narrow alley just off the Piazza Maggiore, this tiny, time warped trattoria was a real find on our flying visit to Bologna. Perhaps the best bet to taste the typical dishes in a cosy and intimate ambience. On the menu are tortellini, little navel-shaped pouches filled with cheese or meat, and tagliatelle al ragu Bolognese,... More

In Bologna on a business trip, I went downtown to see the old part of the city and have dinner. I had asked for some recommendation in the hotel, but didn't like what I saw. So i just strolled along looking for a nice place. Finding this place was an absolute coincidence. Had I looked to the right instead to... More

Walked in as they just opened. My husband came in first, holding our baby. The place was empty, but the host said they couldn't seat us then. I then walked with our two other children, and the host said they were actually busy *the whole day*. So we just went somewhere else where they were happy to serve us.

We visited the restaurant because it's menu looked wonderful. The two of us entered just ahead of a threesome. Neither group had a reservation. We were told the restaurant was full and the trio was seated. Clearly getting an extra customer seated trumped propriety. We will not return.

We always eat at Da Gianni when we are in Bologna. The food and service are excellent. Da Gianni serves the classic regional food that makes Bologna famous all over Italy and the wines are excellent and reasonably priced. We enjoyed Bissoni Sangiovese Riserva. It was a memorable meal. We had:tagliatelle with a luscious rabbit ragu and gramigna with sausage... More
