Description: In the 17th century, the Antica Pesa was an inn serving the peasants who came to deliver grain to the Vaticans customs office. In the 19th, the bocce champions of Trastevere challenged each other in the in the court at the rear. Now the Antica Pesa is one of the best restaurants in Rome, and the old bocce court is a charming garden where a well-dressed, well-heeled and well-known clientele revels on summer evenings. Everyone from Hollywood stars to high government officials has dined here, including many Trastevere-inspired artists from the mid-twentieth century, whose paintings and sculpture are on display. The menu is a combination of regional traditional and innovative Italian under the direction of Simon Panella. Dishes change with the seasons and on a daily basis, and include steamed shrimp with zucchini blossoms, ravioli stuffed with white truffles, thyme-crusted lamb, and basil sorbet with caramelized apples. Enjoy the international wine list and the buzz in the air.

I was reluctant to go here based on the celebrity endorsements and new US franchise, but my family was excited, so we went. And I was pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was incredible, the wait staff very attentive and the food, delicious! We had the Roman sampler box to start, which was great TINY bites of local specialties, and between the... More

we had a nice dinner, their wine list is amazing but a bit heavy to carry. the service is nice and attentive. You can have your last drink next to fire place in comfortable sofas facing the hollywood stars that came to this restaurant (over 100 pictures with the boss) we had gaja barbaresco 2005, just great.

I had mixrd feelongs after visiting together with my wife this restaunt. First of all the positive, food was excellent and the service was OK for Roman standards. We took as an Antipasti a guided touur around Rome, which was nicely served in an painterbox. Why a scam? Well it started with the winelist, you get a book or in... More

We finished a 2 week vacation in Italy in Rome. Riding through some very narrow streets in the Trastevere section finally our taxi pulled up to a very unassuming restaurant entrance. Once you enter it all changes. This is an old building with a lot of charm. Once we passed all the celebrity fotos we were led to a back... More

We found this place by chance while walking around in the area. It was at start of opening hours so we decided to have our diner in this place & was told fully booked (but we thought they said that because we were in short & t'shirt kind of thing :). Since we were wait listed at La Pergola so... More

Prices may be a little bit high, but their food deserved it, so indulge yourself and work later to pay the worthy bill.

It’s a beautiful place, but the food is just good, not excellent. There is a very impressive bound leather volume "wine list", but my husband's first three selections were all "sold out" or "not available." The staff is all English speaking (includind with my Italian husband...), the menu include English translation, so this is a good option for visitors, business... More
