Tucked away down a small side street just of The Piazza di Popolo Babette is a true gem of a place. Presided over by Babette herself the restaurant runs like a Swiss watch. This restaurant is charming with art on the walls and eclectic furnishings. The device was friendly although the staff spoke limited English. We had a wonderful meal with two starter salads that could have fed four people. So good but huge portions. Fresh pasta, delectable chicken, a good wine list, and wonderful desserts. You will leave very content.

We stayed above the restaurant and saw the locals dinning here on sunday, so we dined here with the family on our last evening in Rome. The food was good, the service was good also. We sat outside and the place is spacious, my sister in law ordered the fried veal it was huge and delicious, my brother ordered the... More

We went to Rome to get married and wanted a nice, intimate but not too posh place to eat. I googled different wedding forums and many suggested this restaurant. We waited until the night before, since we didn’t quite know what we wanted, and then booked online. Unfortunately, when we arrived it seemed like they didn’t get our reservation. It... More

This is a small restaurant near Piazza di Popolo. The interior is charming and the hostess gracious. The service is polished and professional. Food is highest quality and presentation.

Lovely garden tucked away on a side street in one of the busiest districts of Rome, good food, great service, pleasant ambience, reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Turned up for late dinner (10 PM) without a reservation and offer a table inside. Service was friendly although they were out of many of the starters. We had a interesting twist in a caprese salad which saw large ball of mozzarella swimming in tomato broth. My beef fillet was cooked as requested but could have done with some more... More

Having just arrived from London, our hotel reception gave us a list of nearby restaurants. This was the nearest and so they booked for us. The food was ok but the service was not. We weren't offered a drink for some time after arrival, we then ordered an aperitif and the food and it all came together. Not the wonderful... More

We are craving the ZUPPA DI MARE (seafood soup)! AND the Babette Torta... a moist, warm, sweet cake that will make you glad to be alive! Everything was wonderful....BUT the atmosphere, menu, fun little gourmet "surprises" and mostly the PEOPLE are the sweet icing on the Babette Torte! It is located just around the corner from the famous Piazza del... More

I visited this restaurant with my mum for our last evening in Rome. They managed to fit us in despite us not pre booking (it is very popular) and the service was excellent and the food out of this world. The chef even sent out small specials to try while we were waiting. I would 100% recommend. Worth every penny.

Staying in Campo Marzio

Neighborhood Profile
Campo Marzio
From its original role as ancient army training fields to its present-day identity as one of the city’s most desirable neighborhoods, the Campo Marzio is the best place to get lost in Rome. Gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque palazzos line the streets, and are filled with enticing boutiques and food shops. By day, Rome’s best-dressed denizens criss-cross its streets in a fashionable parade of errands, occasionally pausing to look fabulous in gorgeous piazzas like San Lorenzo in Lucina. Campo Marzio can be a bit of a sleeper after aperitivi hour (9pm), so visit by day and experience the pulse of daytime Rome.
