The place we set out to eat was closed, so we saw this restraunt across the road. We got a table but within half an hour it was packed. The staff were lovely, very friendly and the food was lovely. Well worth dropping in if you are close by. We would definitely go again and recommend it.

Lovely restaurant with great food, attentive wait staff and excellent wines. Our waitress was wonderful and made our honeymoon celebration even better with little specials.

During our two weeks away in Malta and Rome this was our overall favourate resturant. It provides excellent friendly service, good food in a very relaxed atmosphere. We visited the resturant a few times and each time the welcome was very genuine. Will definately visit next time I am back in Rome again. I would have no hesitation in recommending.

After reading some of the raving results here, I tried the restaurant. The costs are higher than average and the quality of food or service are regular; I expected and was hoping for more. Half of the food was cold. But on the whole I enjoyed the atmosphere and some of the dishes were delicious.

Wish we had found this restaurant our first night instead of our last. Service was exceptionally friendly and helpful---we had several questions about items on the menu, and our waiter was not only patient, but suggested dishes we had not originally thought of. The bruschetta appetizer was delicious. For my entree, I chose Veal Marsala with a glass of Chianti.... More

It was a wet night in Rome and this restaurant was across the road from our accommodation. Upon entering, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. We didn't have a booking and we were immediately ushered to a table and drinks served. Our waiter was very attentive and patiently explained items on the menu which was extensive with many choices. The... More

For our first Italian restaurant in our first night in Rome, there were definitely high expectations in the air! Romantica did not disappoint one bit. The pasta was one of the best I've ever had and the waiters were all very welcoming and cheerful. Our waiter in particular (Andy, I believe his name was?) was particularly very nice and even... We were staying next door to this restaurant and decided to give it a try as it was so convenient for us. Also, we booked via Trip Advisor and got a discount by doing so. Who does not like a bargain?!? We were pleasantly surprised by a complimentary glass of prosecco on arrival. The decoration is a bit dated (maybe... More

I would say the food is average for Rome. Its not the best but it certainly isn't the worst. Presentation of the food is amazing and probably is the best I had. Bruschetta was delicious tomatoes were very fresh.Pasta was nice but was very rich and got sickly after about half. The wine here was lovely too. Service was ok... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
