A proper meal

The majority of the restaurants in this area serve cheap simple food for the tourists. This was different,-the food was excellent and I thought the service very professional.

For any non believers new came back again and enjoyed the whole experience yet again. This is one of the best restaurants in Rome however this is my opinion and respect others with different views although misguided. It is not the cheapest but if you want to eat Cafe food this is not the place. However there are some wonderful... More

We never miss a visit when in Rome a family run restaurant with wonderful local cooking. We we're thinking of taking a break one year and decided where to go by thinking about the food so went back to Rome. We will be eating there again tomorrow evening and can't wait. This a great restaurant if you want to enjoy an excellent meal outside the tourist attractions areas . The Lucia Family has been offering excellent food and wine for more than 40 years. Monte Caruso, combining Roman and Lucanian dishes to perfection with great wines , is a hidden gem in Rome !!

Dinner for 4 of us was 110 euros no wine or desserts. Service was good and there were some different things on the menu which when sampled were good. Would I go back ? Yes, but it has not made me think I can't wait to eat there again.

First off we didn't eat here. So this review is based on a couple taking a leisurely and slow walk back to their Hotel and just stumbling across an interesting looking place. We had just come back from a lovely dinner at Diadema, not too far away. We had also been given free shots after our dinner so were light... More

Good standard of food, good value for money and nice décor, but even though we dined at peak time on a Saturday night, it wasn't particularly busy and the clientele were mainly couples so the atmosphere was very quiet. One of the better restaurants in this area, however, and definitely worth a visit.

The restaurant looks nice, and the staff were fairly attentive and pleasant, with the exception of the manager who seemed to prefer attending to the local guests. If you are to go here you'd need a big wallet or a small appetite as portions are horrendously tiny, although a plentiful supply of bread was provided, dessert was nice however I... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
