Wow!

My husband and I needed "real, fresh" authentic Italian food! Having looked at many menus near busy tourist avenues we noticed several stated their food could be "frozen". This was a HUGE dismay to us as not only was it our honeymoon but we wanted the real deal. Having looked on trip advisor we... read more

Atrocity to italian food...probably one of the worst food experiences i ever had in my life...harmony starters tasted all the same (bland)...gnocchi was awful and had a burnt after taste... it totally messed up my mood and my stomach... what a total waste of money...

After reading the positive reviews I went with my friend to have dinner at Taverna Angelina. We ordered the chef's appetizers' selection for two. We ended up with mediocre raw meat, a parcel of cold peas mix, a soggy crepe, and a slice of cheese for 20 euros. We ordered a mint gnocchi plate to share which was overcooked and... More

We decided to eat here for our anniversary and left very happy. Had a really lovely meal over 4 courses - not sure what the minority of people where complaining about! Asked for a limoncello but they had run out so offered an equivalent made with milk/cream - delightful stuff! Would recommend highly.

We came here once during our stay and found the service was really friendly compared to some other places. The food was excellent - as we had enjoyed our meal so much we wanted to come back again at the end of our holiday, but they were closed.

Looking on Tripadvisor for a reastaurant nearby our holiday apartment I came across Taverna Angelica and because of the good reviews we went to have dinner there. It was a very pleasant surprise! Always nice to be welcomed with a drink of the house, served by a friendly waiter. The starter was delicious (a chef's choice for two) and the... More

This is a hidden gem in Rome near Vatican City! The place looks amazing, has a diverse wine list and the food is just spectacular! My wife and I ordered the Shrimp Carpaccio and pasta with pistachio pesto and shrimp for primi. Presentation and taste were unique and mouth watering. For secondi we had Chicken with sun-dried tomatoes and olives,... More

Mariela was THE best, she added so much to our experience at this meal. We had a wide range of courses and food - DO NOT MISS THE SPAGHETTI WITH BACON or PUMPKIN BLOSSOMS WITH PRAWNS! This is authentic food delivered by a friendly and talented staff!

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
