Friendly service

We came here once during our stay and found the service was really friendly compared to some other places. The food was excellent - as we had enjoyed our meal so much we wanted to come back again at the end of our holiday, but they were closed.

Looking on Tripadvisor for a reastaurant nearby our holiday apartment I came across Taverna Angelica and because of the good reviews we went to have dinner there. It was a very pleasant surprise! Always nice to be welcomed with a drink of the house, served by a friendly waiter. The starter was delicious (a chef's choice for two) and the... More

This is a hidden gem in Rome near Vatican City! The place looks amazing, has a diverse wine list and the food is just spectacular! My wife and I ordered the Shrimp Carpaccio and pasta with pistachio pesto and shrimp for primi. Presentation and taste were unique and mouth watering. For secondi we had Chicken with sun-dried tomatoes and olives,... More

Mariela was THE best, she added so much to our experience at this meal. We had a wide range of courses and food - DO NOT MISS THE SPAGHETTI WITH BACON or PUMPKIN BLOSSOMS WITH PRAWNS! This is authentic food delivered by a friendly and talented staff!

We didn't have a reservation but we're able to get a table. I think the restaurant may have been a little short on staffing because they didn't seem pleased we were there. The dinners were delicious - seafood, veal and pasta dishes. The appetizers-cheese dish and tempura fish and veggies were scrumptious. Wine was nice. Dinner takes awhile- apparently they... More

We researched where to go to celebrate our last night together as a family on our Rome visit. Trip Advisor rated Taverna Angelica highly and now so do we. As foodies the service, ambience and especially the quality of food is extremely important ant to us. Taverna Angelica prepares everything in house and is prepared with imagination and passion. We... Only about three blocks from the Vatican, but a bit hard to find. Just get near it and ask any local for directions. We had dinner there our second night in Rome in late May 2015. The fresh fish was perfectly prepared and the appetizers side dishes great and the wine terrific. All was typical Italian which is what we... More

We had a hard time finding this place at the Piazza Amerigo Caponni, but we it was worth finding. The restaurant actually seems to be on Borgo Angelica, which is just below the level of the rest of the piazza, but once we found it, everything was excellent. All of the advice that our server gave was spot on. I... More

Staying in Vatican / Borgo

Neighborhood Profile
Vatican / Borgo
Frocked priests, colorful Swiss Guards, insistent souvenir shop owners, flag-waving tour guides, and pilgrims from around the world. This is the Vatican and Borgo, Rome's most recognized neighborhood which acts as Vatican City's front yard. Aside from the souvenir boutiques and a few food spots, the only business conducted here is papal. In the daytime, the tiny medieval sector bustles with holy activity, as visitors vie for elbow room, or stand in line for a visit. Once the sun sets, the neighborhood is transformed into a quiet and picturesque hamlet.
