Amazing dinner

I am not big fan of seafood, and had no idea that it's restaurant's specialty. However, food was great. Service was very good - just slow a bit.

This was our 25 wedding anniversary meal so we hoped the restaurant would be a fitting celebration. Unfortunately not. The food was average, the service generally poor despite being not busy. In fact the waiter was almost obnoxious. It feels like one of those restaurants that was good many years ago and that now rests on its laurels! We left... More

We were invited to join a group of friends to celebrate a birthday - since this was a restaurant that my husband had on his wish list we were happy to accept. I looked at the website and the menu so I was aware that this was more expensive than the average ristorante/trattoria - but it was a special night... More

We were sent here on the recommendation of our hotel concierge. The staff weren't all that friendly to us (we're American) and the food was just okay. I've had better pasta dishes in the states. If the prices were more reasonable I think we would be reflecting on the experience a little better but they weren't, so we're not. Go... More

First tip, book a terrace table, we were first placed in, and having insisted on the terrace view got one and it was worth a little waiting. The view is great! Second tip, you'll find 90 pct of patrons are local, some large groups, it was slow dining, but that's what you have the view for! Third tip, this is... More

The menu is classic 1950s American-Italian. Nothing interesting or original. A bowl of packaged bread on the table says it all. Pasta was very nice, everything else was beyond dull and lifeless. You could eat this food at an Olive Garden. Service was pleasant. Meh.

Having booked through our hotel, we arrived on time to find no welcome. Eventually we were able to persuade a waiter to take us to our table - on the inside of a terrace, no view, no ambiance. No-one was prepared to speak any English - not the Italian maitre de, not the Polish waitress, not the Italian waitress. We... More

Service was impeccable As we entered the place, before going upstairs with the lift. Frags eti was served to us with tiny open sandwiches varied from caviar to egg ,cream and more. Our primo were delicious. My husband had spaghetti al olio, as I simply asked, and I got the house special which was pasta with shell fish , clams... More

This restaurant is in a lovely location and we had been wanting to visit for some time. We finally went yesterday, for a light Saturday lunch. Service was slow given we only ordered pasta and there were a mere two other tables full in the entire place. But my fresh pasta with porcini, asparagus and pachino was fine (the asparagus... More

Staying in Aventine

Neighborhood Profile
Aventine
Contrary to the chaos of the city, the Aventine is Rome’s oasis. A neighborhood made up of a patchwork of ancient churches, hidden gardens, private homes and embassies, peace and quiet is top priority and the vibe definitely friends and family. Take a walk around the Aventine and you’ll find a treasure hunt of surprises like the clever little keyhole at the Knights of Malta entrance (the only place you’ll find a line) along with Parco Savello (Giardino degli Aranci) next to the ancient Santa Sabina church. Keep your eyes on the 1960s architecture, several modern buildings are built atop Rome’s original 4th century BC wall.
