Great location and the typical roma food for lunch was quite good. Fried gnocchi and sausage plate. Later had baked lamb for dinner with a fresh fruit side. Lots of wines to offer although I didn't imbibe.

Had a business meal at this place, we got there a bit late and it was not a problem. We enjoyed a variety of typical roman dishes, from fried starters to gnocchi, from spuntature (rib meat) and sausage to tiramisu. Great wine list, not too pricey either (a bottle of Gaja Barbaresco 2004 almost at retail price). Only slight downside,... More

The absolute mastery of frying in Rome is done here, whether its mixed veggies, potato skins, whole artichokes or the divine ricotta fritta... divine little puffs of cheese. The spag cacio e pepe is first rate, followed by an excellent baked lamb with cooked fruit as a perfect dessert. The service is nice, too.

If you are looking for a local restaurant and menu in roma, I suggest that restaurant. Pastas are incredibly delicious and portions are big enough. The wine menu offers lots of options. My holiday is over but the taste is still with me.

Had a good meal, Vela and potatoes in old well established tradional style place. Not changed much since it opened in 1934!!! waiters are good mix of youth and old experienced. But this place is not for everyone, you need to understand the Italian way and most clientel are Italians.

Authentic roman food in a cozy setting. Although not extraordinary, the food is pretty good; however dishes can be somehow heavy. But what truly shines in Matricianella is the wine list. Larger than a bible, it contains some of the finest Italian wines. (if not all!) Service is fast and they are always in a hurry. It's worth a visit,... More

I have eaten here four times over the last ten years and recommended Matricianella to many friends, but I regret I won't be able to continue to do so. By way of reference I have lived in Venice and New York City for thirty years and speak reasonable Italian. The ambience, as always was typical Roman trattoria, simple, poorly lit... More

I regularly go to restaurants in Rome. this one is way over rated , very mediocre food one waiter for the whole inside one for the outdoors . at least if they were nice it would be bearable. the food is extremely greasy and quite ordinary to bad. I dont know who rates this restaurant as good, they must pay... More

Just around the corner from our hotel this was the perfect restaurant choice on our jet lagged first night in Rome. Our waiter was funny, attentive, and though the restaurant was busy, generous with his time as well as his pouring of the house wine. We ordered the fried artichokes giudia and two pastas (one with porcini mushrooms & the... More

My wife and I decided to eat at this restaurant for her birthday. we politely ask to move to another outdoor table because of the number of people smoking next to us. The waiter sat us inside, and apparently decided we weren't worth serving. After being ignored for 20 minutes, we left. Apparently they don't like tourists. We really don't... More
