Modern Italian

Life restaurant at Via della Vite 28, in Rome is great modern Italian food. Excellent service as well. We tried both the special chefs menus, black truffle and lobster, with the wine pairings, and they were fantastic. It's maybe a bit pricier than your average tourist fare, but well worth it.

Learned of this place from our hotel and although we hadn't booked they managed to sit us outside which was great. The food, wine and service was first class. There was nothing we tasted that wasn't thoroughly enjoyed. Would definitely recommend it, although would suggest booking to guarantee a table.

The food is outstanding. Must try the spaghetti with lobster and the ravioli with truffles. Our waiter Francesco was so friendly and gave service with a smile. Love this place.

Had a lovely evening (my favourite meal whilst in Rome). We had the black truffle tasting menu which was divine! Matching wines were fantastic and the service was immaculate. Lovely waiter with a beard was so informative and had a great character. Hope to visit again :)

Usually I avoid eating near tourist attractions. Would not have gone to Life without a friend's recommendation. The scampi carpaccio was crunchy and sweet, fettuccine with a meaty porcini mushrooms sauce. Try their lamb chops!

I didn't really want to go out to a nice restaurant as a non-fancy dressed backpacker, but eating a nice dish of pasta was on the agenda in Rome. This local tour guide recommended me this place so I went. I had carbonara and it was the best pasta I've ever eaten. Still awkward as I wasn't smoking cigarettes or... More

We picked one set menu (truffle) and one pasta from the general menu and enjoyed the food, although the 65 euro including wine for the set menu is perhaps a bit expensive, but overall quality is good. The ambiance is nicely decorated and welcoming. Could have done without the freezing cold air con, but apart from that, a pleasant experience.

Our concierge from the Westin Excelsior recommended this for lunch and we are glad she did. Food and service were wonderful and just a block or so from the Spanish steps. Truffle ravioli was great and my daughter who sampled gnocchi at almost every restaurant we ate at from Venice to Florence to Rome during our 9 day Italian vacation... More

Staying in Colonna

Neighborhood Profile
Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very center of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping center, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
