We stayed in a hotel just down the street from this restaurant and ate here on our first evening based on the Trip Advisor Reviews. We hadn't booked a table which was a mistake however we were seated on the understanding that they would need the table by 9.30. We all had pasta dishes which were delicious. The service was... More

We stumbled across this restaurant by exploring the side streets. It is a small family run establishment. Friendly staff. Great food. Used by the locals. Food was of a very high standard and reasonably priced. I would recommend reserving a table as we witnesses many people by turned away.

This restaurant seems to be patronized by many Italians. Food and service were good - cannot fault them but for husband's pasta dish which was a bit too pungent and overdone with cheese. Our first of roasted artichokes with olive oil, lemon, arugula and cherry tomatoes was delicious. Pasta portions were very generous - certainly more than adequate for a... More

We ordered pasta Romana, spaghetti, pasta carbonara and pasta fettuccini. All meals were too salty! The chef went overboard with the salt. Also, they charged 7.50 euro for the bread that they put on the table without telling us it wasn't free.

I had read about this restaurant before leaving the states but had not made a reservation because they cannot be made via email. I happened to mention it to my tour guide for Ancient Rome and she highly recommended it. She immediately called the restaurant and made a lunch reservation for us following the tour. La Taverna is near the... More

With a location just steps from Piazza Venezia and the Colosseum, I was so nervous that this place would be very touristy, despite reading some positive reviews. I was very pleasantly surprised. It didn't feel touristy at all (ok, they had an English menu and sent us an English speaking waiter but there were clearly locals there as well.) The... More

I have eaten in many restaurants in Europe and America and really enjoy trattoria and bistro style restaurants where the chef uses great fresh produce and does not try to do too much with them. We were shown to our table by a very friendly lady and given our menus and ordered. The first course to share lamb meatballs was... More

This is a lovely restaurant behind the forum. They have one table outside which they reserve for VIP and several tables inside. The chef and staff could not be nicer. The food is very good. This is not the best meal I have had in Rome but very good. My son the vegetarian found several things to eat. My Puttanesca... More

Located near the Colosseum and just down the street from Fafiuche . I'd suggest an antipasti and a few glasses of wine at Fafiuche before the main course here. A good way to try out more than one spot. They bring out bread w/o letting you know there is a charge - and it's so dry it's hard to get... More

Okay, if you are in Rome plan in advance to eat here. I teach in Rome every summer and a friend introduced me. The food is simply outstanding. The place is the real deal run by family. Envision long, authentic meals with perfect wine pairings, ever changing specials, and a menu of classics that will leave your mouth watering. All... More
