Jewel hidden in back street in locals area of Rome

We were walking back from a day long private tour of the Vatican and many saints basilicas when it was over 100 degrees F. We needed water, vino, and AC. It was roughly 5 pm. Bumped into La Taverna dei Monti on Via de Boschetto. We were greeted graciously and shown to a table under an AC vent. We... read more

Mr. Augoustino, his family and all other staff members did their best to exceed our expectations each and every of our 7 nights that we visited them for dinner! My family and I, all 3 of us enjoyed their excellent plates, pasta, salads, lamb, veal, seafood and of course the delicious oven potatoes (in small cubes). Well cooked, authentic ingredients,... Our hotelier recommended this restaurant upon our arrival during our recent visit in Roma, and it well earned our favorite place to eat. I would say more local than tourist, but friendly service welcoming to both. The food authentic, well prepared, good value, and excellent! We couldn't get enough caprese salad, beautifully home-grown tomatoes, and homemade mozzarella. It makes my... More

We ate here all three nights we stayed in Rome because the food was delicious and the service was excellent! Unlike many restaurants in Italy, they provided us with cold tap water without putting up a fuss. We had pizza the first night and it was superb. The ingredients were fresh, including the vegetables. This was the only place we... More

We started out with the mushroom pizza. This was the first Italian restaurant I've found making it with fresh mushrooms. Needless to say it was amazing! The main dishes were also well executed. I had a veal and ham dish. It was pretty good. Mark had the oxtail dish which was beyond amazing and melted in your mouth. For dessert... More

We had three different pasta dishes all really well prepared. The place in itself is a little dull but for a quiet dinner with good traditional Italian dishes this restaurant is a safe bet.

So not a place to go on your anniversary! We ate inside because it was hot. The waitress barely said two words to us and would put done plates and just walk away. We had to ask another waitress for pepper and oil and vinegar. We had the caprese which was fine. They had a tv show on in the... More

Visited this restaurant first night in Rome and was treated to a traditional delicious Italian meal. From the antipasti which was the prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella to the ravioli with spinach and cheese filling and lastly the tiramisu was so good from start to finish please check this place out.

Fantastic food. The cacio e pepe was excellent as was my wife's pasta dish. We had lunch here on the weekend and it seemed like there were mostly locals.

We went to this restaurant which is near to our hotel from the recommendation of the hotel staff who said go there if you want to try authentic italian food (not touristy place). It is within an alley so if it is not for the recommendation, we would not have gone there. We had a wonderful dinner of pasta &... More
