We were advised of this restaurant by the St. Regis Rome concierge. The recommendation the night before was spectacular but this restaurant was disappointing. Wonderful atmosphere of of the Piazza Santa Maria in Travastere but the service was very mediocre (i.e. very little interest in us) and the food was fair to average (i.e. could have cooked it ourselves at... Having just eaten at a high end restaurant round the corner where a glass of house white cost €3 we were lured into a false sense of security on arrival at Sabatini and ordered 2 glasses of house white, specifying that we wanted their best value option but not checking the menu first. 1 hour and a few less-than-desirably-crisp crisps... Sabitini is still an excellent restaurant. It has recently changed hands after many years. The original owners were still on site servicing and watching, I don't know how long they will be there. Hopefully the new owners will continue there excellent record. I will try them again when in Rome.

Right on the Santa Maria di Trastavere square, Sabitini feels like and old soul. You have the sense the place has been there, unchanged for decades. The waiters in their uniforms are attentive and helpful. The food is varied and tasty. It isn't the cheapest eats in the area, nor the most sophisticated, but worth a splurge after a day... More

Food was ok, prices high. We had much better in Rome! They calculate 15% service fee on your bill, we did not see this until the bill was shown. We will never eat here again

Staggered in, after a long walk in the hot sun at 3pm, looking for a snack and a cold beer. Presented with a menu with 5 star prices. Ordered a small plate of ham and mozzarella plus 4 drinks (3 soft) and left €60 worse off. Avoid - unless you want to spend a fortune on very little.

This year we were there for lunch and the owner Salvatore came by to visit and said he hopes to see us again in another 30 years. This place has fresh fish and great vegeggies and desseerts. Located in Piazza S.Maria right across from the famous church and my guess is they are about 50 years old at least so... More

Staying near the Piazza Sta Maria in Trastevere we thought we'd try this restaurant but were very disappointed compared to our other dining experiences. The food was overpriced with nothing served with mains and the most surly waiter we have come across in years!! The roast lamb was extremely disappointing. No house wine except by the glass and a wine... More

Stopped in here while walking in the area. Pleasant atmosphere. Initially attentive staff. Had the Saffron Risotto which was very good. While there was a huge cooler at the front with some amazing looking items, it was not explained to us - so we didn't partake. Like most of Europe it was hard to get the bill - but here... More

This place was recommended to us but every dish we ordered for our party of seven was just average. Everywhere else we ate in our five days in Rome was awesome but this place was not. BUT nice staff.
