Great location, very expensive

We had a very tasty breakfast there, but it was the most expensive breakfast we had in Rome. Very pricey, even for Trastevere

We went to Sabatini twice during our recent visit to Rome. I had been on a previous trip 4 years ago and remembered the location, setting and service were all wonderful. This trip was no different; we sat outside on our first dinner... the service was very attentive and the food was wonderful. Try the artichoke with the Jewish preparation...... More

This is a great location and the food is excellent ! We stopped for dinner and sat outside as it was a great place to watch the activity in the piazza. We had a fantastic meal and our waiter was such a nice man! Very attentive and personable. He talked with us for awhile and gave us great history on... More

Our meal took ages to come, despite several reminders. We had a strong feeling we mattered less because we were tourists. When I took issue with the manager he was having none of it, and was brusque and very dismissive. It was a great pity. The food was good although expensive. It marred what would otherwise have been a nice... More

We stopped here for an early dinner after a long day of walking around this lovely city. The location is right on a very busy piazza with great site seeing and entertainment. The owner had dinner right next to us as I believe he does every day. We had the sea bass on salt which was out of this world.... More

Highly recommended. Great location on the piazza Di Santa Maria in Travastere. Lots of nightlife and entertainment which provided a nice atmosphere. Excellent staff and an unbelievable wine list - the sommelier provided sound advice to help us choose an excellent wine in our price range. Not cheap but still a good value dining experience if you want to ensure... More

My wife and I ate here three years ago. After reading some recent reviews we were leery to return, but we were so glad we did. Walked in with no reservation and enjoyed the meal as the first time. She had the veal Marsala and I the bucatini amatriciana. I was thinking about that since we landed in Naples 8... More

Oh Sabatini - what has happened to you? Ok,so we've not been for 30 years but did you have to sink to such levels? This establishment is now an overpriced tourist trap. I simply cannot recommend it in any way other than for its fantastic location. The food was not as good as most basic trattorias & although amusing, their wine... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
