Surprisingly nice meal!

I had dinner here with my family on a Sunday night. I was quite tentative, because I had seen the TripAdvisor reviews, and it appeared that people's experiences were quite polarised, with some being very negative and some being very positive. I was very relieved that our dining experience fell into... read more

By not being a tourist and being particularly picky on food I tend to never commit a mistake on choosing a restaurant. However, brought by friends, I personally witnessed one of the worst restaurants in town which proves that it's truly hard to find good food in Trastevere. This restaurant has few Italian clients and fewer (almost none) Italian waiters;... More

I was quite unimpressed with the restaurant, though my wife was more tolerant. Our food ranged from fair to good...with the pasta being far better than the beef dishes. The waiter, however, was abrupt. Had I not been famished, we probably would have left after being shown to our table. There are wonderful restaurants in Rome, but Romolo is nor... More

Lovely courtyard setting, last night of our holiday. Food was reasonable, though a bit expensive. Service was beyond a joke. Brought us the wrong starter, and then only 2 of 3 we had ordered. Had to ask for our wine several times. Then they tried to bring us someone else's main course, and this was happening for other tables too.... More

Couldn't give this restaurant more praise! The food was excellent, the service impeccable and amazing value for money. The waiters couldn't do enough for us especially my young daughter who was unsure of what to choose! They brought out a sample of the dish for her to try! This restaurant is a MUST visit - will definitely return in our... More

There are many better restaurants in Trastevere than this one. I would certainly not recommend it to any of my friends. It was recommended by my italian teacher. The seating in the courtyard is probably the best thing. The food below avarage and certainly not worth the price. No wonder it was almost empty on a friday evening.

One walks in from a busy street in the Trastavere to dine in a peaceful, secluded walled garden. The food is mainly cucina romana and is excellently cooked. The service is exemplary and the prices reasonable for the standard of the cuisine .

Had dinner at this restaurant to celebrate my second wedding anniversary. Was not disappointed as the dishes were very good and the staff friendly. The area around the restaurant is great and our table was nicely located in a quiet area of the back garden. Would not hesitate going back again.

Read of this restaurant and was so looking forward to ending our beautiful 2 week vaca. In Italy here. Made reservations arrived at our dinner time. It started with us asking for the wine list. The meal arrived which was fine , two pasta dishes and followed with simple salad. We were never asked if we desired desert, when I... More

Visit this beautiful garden and enjoy the cosy atmosphere for a special dinner. Very good food, a little slow service, but you will have a nice evening!

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
