We went to Nerone for dinner on a recommendation from the Rick Steves guidebook since we were staying right around the corner (across the street from the Colosseum). We were pleasantly surprised based on the Trip Advisor reviews. Very pleasant staff, good appetizers, vast selection of entrees, and the absolute best flame grilled king prawns I have EVER tasted! WHY DOES THIS PLACE HAVE A 4 OUT OF 5??!?!?! I would not go here if you are a tourist (or Italian). They will give you crappy food and service and then try to rip you off. We went based off a suggestion in a guidebook that recommended the 10 euro antipasti buffet. We figured that was a pretty great... More

I truly don't understand why this place has so many 4 and 5 star reviews. It serves by far the worst food i've had in Rome, bland, tasteless or extremely salty. It's fairly obvious it's all straight from the microwave. The side salads are 6 euro, but obviously come straight from the supermarket. It also doesn't really have a view... More

A very good restaurant with an excellent staff! Our waiter was very friendly and the pasta and canelloni were good. Will go again!

I had a wonderful meal at Nerone, and if I'm ever in Rome I'd love to go back. Just around the corner from the coliseum and the forum. The waiter/owner was very funny and despite dining alone I had a wonderful time.

When I visit Rome now I very rarely visit the Colosseum and Forum but on this trip we had 3 first time visitors with us so of course we had to visit the big sites. We headed right up the road to Hostaria Nerone for a quick lunch. Nerone serves good roman fare in a very touristy area. We first... More

We sat outside and had a lovely dinner. I had the vegetarian antipasti which was delicious and the gnocchi. My 6 and 9 year old had 1/4 roast chicken and French fries which was juicy. And yes, I had a view of the colosseum! The waiter presented us with limoncello free of charge after dinner! Dinner for the 4 of... More

They have both self serve and off menu. Yes buffet is served cold. Still is great. I think its one of best in Rome. Close to Colosseum.

Just nearby the Colosseo, this place was good for a lunch far from the crowd. Really liked the cannellonis and pasta were really good too, even though the quantity was not enough for my husband (a real primi pasti, not to be considered as a whole plate).

This restaurant has been highly advertised by a few locals. Of course, the decision was made immediately to visit Nerone and have a taste of real Italy. We were highly disappointed because either the dishes were tastless or too salty. The service was not pleasant either. I would not advertise this restaurant to anyone.
