Superb last evening in Rome

My husband and I had dinner at Il Convivio last night and it was a very special evening. It's tucked away in a little street not far from the piazza navona but easy to find. Nestled in a by-lane in Rome, Il Convivio was such a delight to dine in from start to finish! Extremely elegant and proper with fabulous service, we had a really memorable evening here. The wine catalogue is extensive and the food is divine. We ate red prawns in burrata cheese and a variety of recommended first courses of pasta all... More

in a small neglected ally near the Tiber river (with the help of an experienced taxi driver) one can find one of the best restaurants in Rome and elsewhere. In a few large rooms you are requested to sit with only 4 other big tables though only for couples and be served one of the best meals we ever had!!... More

Just celebrated our 30th anniversary in Italy. To treat ourselves in Rome, we decided on this Michelin star restaurant. We dropped close to 500 Euros on the tasting menu, wine, etc. The food was elegant - the chef puts a lot of emphasis on technique and presentation albeit at the expense of taste and quantity. One expects small portions with... More

My husband and I have been to Rome a number of times. We have enjoyed a meal at Il Convivio at least once during each visit. We always look forward to our time there and the incredible attention to detail in not only the food but the service. I always ask for help with the wine to ensure that I... More

We were really looking forward to our evening at il Convivio but were surprised by the minimalist surroundings, higher than expected prices, and dramatically smaller than expected portions. The menu was narrow and they were very helpful in working with my wife's pescatarian diet constraints. The chef came out and they talked about what he could do. She ended up... More

I have eaten at Il Convivio every time i visit Rome since 2005 and it keeps getting better. I hosted a special birthday in 2006 and brought many friends since then. Each guest shares the feeling of the impeccable service and wonderful appreciation culinary art and beauty in flavors. Last week, four of us had the tasting menu and thoroughly... More

It is not often that one gets to experience culinary and service excellence like this ! I have chaired the South African Hospitality Association for many years and would say that if you are looking for a "text book" dining experience then Il CONVIVIO TROIANI will certainly deliver! The family and staff have a passion for the establishment that will... More

This restaurant is located between the river and Piazza Navona. Most of the little shops in the general area are frame makers who use an antique method for framing pictures and making frames. There, amongst these shops, sits Il Convivio . . . the restaurant has always been good, but now it is really becoming a unique experience using organic... More

A party of 4 we dined at Il Convivio on the 30th April 15. Greeted by friendly waiters we had by far the best meal we have experienced in Rome. Despite any of our party having little Italian the staff could explain the menu and advise of wines that we had not experienced in the past. Pairing of wine and... More
