Very small portions.

Our visit to this restaurant turned out to be rather disappointing. We ordered à la carte and the portions were very small. My wife had raviolis and I was afraid to ask for one to taste because she wouldn't have that much left in her plate. Also my risotto turned out to be a small portion. For main... read more

After a day immersed in the heady culture that is Rome, I was feeling unenthusiastic about going out to dinner. I dressed in casual clothes and walked to the restaurant hoping for a quick meal and an early night. First clue that Il Convivio was a special restaurant was when we were greeted at the door by a young man... More

Our hotel recommended this restaurant as we asked about an upscale place to celebrate a milestone birthday last week. The restaurant is located in a back alley, hard to find, but 5 or 6 waiters will greet you once you are inside. We booked a corner table with an interesting view of all other tables. The menu has no more... More

My partner booked a meal here for my birthday. There's not a lot to say - we both agreed that this was by far the most exceptional meal we've experienced (and we've dined at a few Michelin starred restaurants). The location, décor, staff and chef were all insightful, helpful and pleasant. The chef came out to meet the diners and... More

We had booked a tasting menu dinner with wine. Booked table via Internet, and got quick confirmation and instruction on how to ensure table reservation. Was greeted after ringing the bell (restaurant not open for walking), got a great table, service fantastic and food / wine likewise fantastic, so a very positive experience

We go to Rome every year and every year we make a culinary pilgrimage to Il Convivio. As in the past, last night's dinner was exceptional on all counts: amazing wine (Antinori Cervaro), a tasting menu that excited the palate, and truly impeccable service. Because the menu changes with each season I cannot recommend a special dish but among last... More

We walked into this place without a booking. It was a bit of a last minute decision to visit this fine dining establishment, but it is fairly conveniently located near Palazzo Altemps (and not far from Piazza Navona, actually). It in a small side alley hidden off the main road and not easy to spot in the evening. The door... More

My wife and I were looking for a nice meal in Rome and our hotel concierge sent us to Il Convivio. The hotel is located down a small alley. The restaurant is a 1 star Michelin award winner (so you know the food is fabulous!) The menu is very limited (there were 5-6 starters on the menu, 5-6 first courses... More

Service was good and the food was delicious. We came here as we wanted a quintessential fine dining experience and we got one. The wine pairing worked well and the number or courses, size of dishes and menu was great. I would recommend.

We booked this place without knowing much about it. When we walked in, we realised we were unprepared for such splendour! But the staff were very courteous and friendly. They were very happy to accommodate my gluten intolerance and my mother's mushroom allergy, altering meals to suit us personally. The food and service were both outstanding, and the one occasion...
