We made reservations for a special event during our trip to Rome and the food was fine, the service adequate and the atmosphere acceptable. But for the price, it disappointed. We arrived wanting a pre-dinner dinner drink in the piano bar. It was closed. As mentioned, the food was fine but we'd had better in Rome the two evenings before... More

We love to wander in Rome. This night it began to rain and we wanted to find a restaurant quickly. So we came upon l'orso. The two of us usually like to share a bottle or half liter of vino de la casa, one pizza and grilled vegies. That's what we did tonight. I think the vegies were 15 euros,... More

When we asked at our hotel to make a reservation at a restaurant to taste italian cuisine, we did not expect that we would find ourselves in such an environment. A beautiful old house, near Tiber, in the centre of Rome. Excellent food: spaghetti was very good and the sorbet chocolate with rum I got for desert was the best... More

Our group had dinner at Hostaria dell"Orso and I felt like being invited to an Italian home. The restaurant is set in an old house within the city center. Access is via what was then the foyer, and we were ushered to the second level where the tables were set. Service was good, and food was near excellent. I loved... More

I think the building is beautiful, the restaurant is visually interesting but the food fell short. For the price, there are so many better restaurants in Rome. And the waiter we had was amusing. Initially, he seemed rather condescending, confused when we didnt ask for Santa Margherita Wine, then telling us that is what all Americans ask for. By the... More

We went there expecting a different kind of restaurant. When they brough the menus with no prices ( only the male clients get to see the price of the food), we realized it would be quite an expensive experience. To be fair, the food was delicious ( I ordered a caneloni and was served SEVEN canelonis). The portions are incredibly... More

I heard about Hosteria dell'Orso from one of my Roman friend. He meant to go there or a while and when I visited Rome we decided to try it together. I have to say that it was quite disappointing. First of all their meals and vine is overpriced. I guess you pay for the atmosphere of the medieval palace. Secondly... More

First of all, they charged us 15 euro for one cocktail. This is place is pretension at its worst. Rome is a city known for its small tratorrie and family run ristorante- Hostaria dell'Orso is not that. Its pretty-yes, and has a nice atmosphere for a date or whatnot- but a coat-check and bouncer!? Come on! We were a group... More
