Wonderful location and good service - but past it's prime

This restaurant is at the end of a triangular block of Via dell 'Orso and Via di Monte Brianzo. The spaghetti alla vongole with only half a dozen clams was a great disappointment, especially as I know that within a couple of hundred metres there is another restaurant which excells in this dish at... read more

It was a nice antic Hostal, lungo Tevere, today the "Orso" is now longer a hôtel, it has been transformed into a luxury class restaurant, much frequented by U.S. visitors in whose Roman sightseeing program "the Orso holds, if not as important a place as the Trevi Fountain. Excellent food, you need a reservation for this inn.

I don't know what I like better: the atmosphere, the subdued elegance, the antique touches, the service, always top of the line, or the food. Which is divine. No kidding. Your palate would thank you for bringing it here. And your memory would allocate a special quarter for remembering that night. Located on the first floor of a XIV Century... More

I first visited Hostaria Dell Órso back in 1987 recommended by my sister who lived in Roma at the time. Still superb in every way. The antipasto outstanding with the mozzarela buffala and the prociutto. The artichokes were fantastic we had fish and pasta dishes, The fruto de mare was great as the lingine alle vongole ( with clams ).... More

We arrived to a very quiet building - in fact we were the only guests but as we were a group of nine seated in a small area off the main restaurant this did not matter.

authentic Italian palazzo next to the river. Really nice setting, and a beautiful terrace. The service was trying to be 5 star but it lacked a bit of luster!! Food was good, however menu was very limited for a michelin restaurant. Wine list just superb but clearly not enough to make up for the night, as service made us feel... More

We booked this restaurant through Amex (they have now updated their records following our feedback) to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We arrived 10 minutes early and weren't asked if we would like a drink at the bar or would like to go straight to our table. We were shown to our table and given menus then the waiter left us.... To put this into context, of the ~65 reviews I have done, two have been negative. This is the third. To be fair to the restaurant, they had a group booking that had taken up all but about 6 tables and I think that may have distracted them. But until the group arrived, there were only 3 other couples dining;... More

We enjoyed a lovely dinner at this newly opened location. We started with the carpaccio di manzo, and then I had the sea bass while my husband had the filet of beef. Both were quite good, and beautifully presented. The wine list has many selections including some quite pricey ones, but we just went with the house red,and we were... More
