In order to write the story of this cafe we should get to meet every person who has gone to it, or most of them. Certainly each one of them would have a bit of story kept in the casket of their memories. Memories of unforgettable moment, but above all of a bit of history which has helped our Country to be born again. It was the Sixties and our bar proudly represented the meeting place of the " By nigth " Rome, of the " Dolce vita " (Sweet life), the place where riotous loves were born, where never revealed agreements were signed, were everything was familiar ... This was Harry's Bar. In the hearts of the ones who patronenized it, it never died, despite the hard times. Harry's Bar Rome was born in 1959, took its name only in 1962 but the cafe existed since 1918. It was the Golden Gate Confectioner's, quoted in many books. At the end of the Twenties it became part of the De Gasperis' family until 1958, the very year it cake to be American Bar Restaurant. Today the cafe shines in its Boisseirie, and in its plasters, more then 35 years old, of late renovated, the same feel you got in those years. He who doesn't know Harry's Bar Rome, has now good reason to go and see it. Legendary Harry's Bar is the unique place that evokes tbc "Dolce Vita' as if it were a clip from the film, creating a vivid flashback to the golden era of the Via Veneto, when Frank Sinatra sang at the piano and all the stars made their appearance in this bar/restaurant full of glamour and style. As in the roaring sixties, you can still sip an aperitif, enjoy the live piano bar every evening and dive into tbc magic of the Via Veneto from the exclusive and fascinating Harry's Bar. The refined cuisine recalls the freshness of Mediterranean flavours based on prime ingredients. Tradition and fantasy inspire the elegant dishes of the menu, accompanied by the most prestigious labels and a high class service.

Harry's Bar says it all

Following a meeting at the nearby Embassy, a group of us stopped here for a bite to eat and something to drink. We enjoyed four hours of conversation, good food and wine. Thank goodness our boss came by and picked up the check!!

Borderline Hardrock-like with expensive average drinks and nothing special decor. Even though there are some memorabila items to look at.

Sat outside today early evening.....certainly an ok location and good service......had a the most expensive Cola at 11.00EU when the drinks where between 15-18EU. Out of proportion...we considered it abusive and never made it to dinner service. Hope things improve.

Harry's Bar was conveniently located to the hotel we stayed - just across the street - and so we just had to see what it had to offer. The moment we walked in we felt at home and welcomed by the staff. I would go back tomorrow. My only regret is that I failed to get a souvenir tie. We... More

This was across from our hotel and we did check the menu but found the prices just too expensive to eat there. One item was more than twice to what I found elsewhere.

dear customer, our local exposes the menu at the entrance. our prices are higher than those that can be found in the area as no one can make them live the atmosphere in our restaurant. whether you sit inside or outside you'll find great service, food always freshly prepared by our chef and equally good drink created by our barman.... The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious, and our wait staff was very kind and attentive. We sat in the outdoor seating area, and just enjoyed watching the fast pace world of Rome whiz by. Music was just loud enough to be heard, but not disruptive, and was a lot of Frank Sinatra and other relaxed dinner music vocals.... More

I hold Simon Hopgood partly responsible for this. He reveals a recipe for a toasted cheese and ham sandwich in his book The Good Cook. The sandwich originates from Harry's Bar in Venice. They appear on the bar when you buy a drink, and then later they appear on your bill too. However, they are extremely moorish and something we... More

Dear Customer, Thank you for leaving us a review. Worldwide there are Harry's Bar but all belong to different companies so you will hardly find the same dishes in Florence or Venice. Our prices are also displayed at the entrance of our local and on all the tables. We are pleased that he liked the club sandwich. Best regards More

After ten days of Italian food - as much as I love it - I wanted a good old - fashioned burger. As we passed Harry's Bar on Via Veneto we ducked in were given a great table on the outside patio. Service was wonderful, and the burger even better, but the best part was the people watching! While my... More

It's expensive, really expensive, but it's worth every euro. We are on the patio and had the original Bellini followed by an eggplant appetizer, they shaved the eggplant paper thin. One of their specialties is the sea bass in a seat salt crust that is just beyond explanation it's so good. We ended dinner with the best (and most expensive)... More

Jet set settings, with matching prices, very nice atmosphere, excellent service, quality dining AND WORLDCLASS live music that makes you order another bottle of wine and then several gin tonics: a very nice eveninf in Rome!

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
