This was the gastronomic highlight of our trip to Rome - no small feat in a City that loves to eat! The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgable, the food was some of the best we've ever tasted and the price worked out at about £55 pp for 3 courses with drinks - a treat, yes, but certainly not excessive... Nice modern style restaurant in Rome. It's quite expensive but worth it. We had a tasting menu of 7 courses with three additional "welcomes" from the kitchen (78 euro). Roasted sea scallops, carrots, ginger and crispy spinach, very nice, poached egg, ricotta cheese. cauliflower and black truffle nice, spello chick pea soup and seasonal mushrooms, well this was something out... This is a well thought-through restaurant, with a mostly original take to odern fine dining. We had the tasting me which had several highlights, such as the poached egg with a ricottamouse, and the other purees also complimented the scallop and the veal. We also enjoyed the little compliments from the chef which were imaginative. Of the desserts the mojito... More

Excellent food, serene atmosphere, and very good service. However, if you want to eat with locals, or wealthy Romans, this apparently is not the place to go. It is chock-full of Americans and Germans. I am not judging that as positive or negative, just saying. A glass of wine and appetizer and a main course was €55. I had very... More

The food here the evening my wife and I dined was lovely, but perhaps the richest we'd ever had. Pasta came with lashings of black truffle, and risotto was made with rich cheese. It *was* lovely, and properly-priced, but if you go here be prepared for a *very* rich meal.

What an awesome restaurant! My son picked out 3 and this happened to be closest to our hotel for our last night in Rome. He is studying there for the semester and has taken us to several great restaurants. This was one of our favorites! The staff was so welcoming. They had a couple of entre tastes between our courses... More

We came here for my birthday meal - thought we would treat ourselves to something different and we got that in bundles. Refreshingly pleasent staff who greeted us at the door, nothing was too much trouble and the whole experience was extremely easy. I had the scallops and beef which didnt last long on the plate. There was the 'open... More

Restaurant is at top of hill above Trestevere - walk up (not in summer) and build an appetite! Waiting staff were professional - balanced friendly/helpful with being totally unobtrusive. We couldn't agree on what to drink but there was a good enough selection - and help forthcoming - for us each to drink different wines by the glass throughout the... More

The restaurant was recommended by a local Roman friend of ours and I'm so pleased he did. It was my husband's birthday so we wanted a special meal and that's what we got. The staff are super friendly and we decided to go for the taster menu which was delicious. The waiter was lovely and helped us choose a great... More

Staying in Monteverde

Neighborhood Profile
Monteverde
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighborhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centerpiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the center to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
