elegant modern italian

Family of 5 had a very nice dinner here in August. This is definitely a place for dates or nicer dining. It is on a hill a bit outside the center, just west of Trastevere. The menu is italian with modern twists (interesting flavor pairings and sauces, some deconstructed dishes, not the typical... read more

We had done a lot of research and this restaurant got such great reviews, I was really looking forward to it. I was so disappointed. The restaurant is on the top of a hill and quite far from anything walkable. The cab ride was about 16 euro each way. I wouldn't have minded if the restaurant was amazing, but it... More

And we had some splendid meals. Antico Arco was a bit hard to find, but so very well worth it. The food was imaginative and delicious, the service elegant and amiable. Expensive, but we would (and will) go back in a flash.

We came here in preference to the dining room in a hotel two minutes walk up the road. What a fortuitous discovery! The welcome was genuine and warm, the atmosphere sufficiently trendy for our image-conscious teens, the food imaginative and beautifully presented, for the service just outstanding. This was not a cheap meal, but worth every cent. A special mention... More

We were recommended this restaurant by friends who visited earlier in the year and we were not disappointed. The staff are friendly, multilingual and knowledgable. The menu is compact but well varied and the wine list is extensive. The open kebab starter was a brilliant idea and the veal with guacamole was interesting but delicious. The wine list is well... Best service we had in Rome and the food was wonderful! Highly recommend the scallop appetizer and the king prawns! Trastevere is the best neighborhood for restaurants in Rome.

I had a dinner in this restaurant, good tastes, nice menu, the atmosphere is good and the service also. The wine list is full and the gourmet dishes gives you really Italian style dinner.

This place touts itself as a gourmet restaurant. It's nothing of the sort. If you loved great food then disappointment is guaranteed. Pretentious tourist ripoff.

My wife and I have been lucky enough to enjoy many, many fabulous restaurants around the world both with and without our 2 boys (11 and 14). It is fair to say that without doubt Antico Arco rates right up there. The four of us had a first class evening - great service, delicious food and a very trendy establishment.... More

When traveling to Rome, please be aware, and thing for a moment about what you REALLY want dining in Rome to be like, and what you expect in the meals and restaurants you go to. Rome is FILLED we awful tourist traps, selling spaghetti and pizza that are worse than your local dining chain back home - trust me. That... More

Staying in Monteverde

Neighborhood Profile
Monteverde
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighborhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centerpiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the center to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
