Best food in Rome, consistently excellent

Wonderful inventive menu full of surprises. Always eat here whenever we are in Rome. Out of the way on top of the Gianiculum Hill so best to take a taxi. We have eaten here for more than 10 year and the quality never varies. A true gourmet experience.

I was looking for somewhere special as a birthday treat for my partner on our visit to Rome. I had read reviews and it was in the top 10 of the Telegraph paper recommendations. Before going to Rome I mailed and booked a table and got a reply straight away. The food was excellent and I thought value for money.... More

This was our last dinner in Rome and I looked forward to a terrific experience. It's a very attractive room, the lighting is soft, the chairs are comfortable, and the noise level is on the low side. However, while the dishes looked beautiful as they were served, the flavors were bland and lacked interest. The roasted veal had a peculiar... More

I recommend taking a cab unless you're very close because it was a bit more of a walk (uphill) than we anticipated. But, the food and service are great!

We made a reservation in this restaurant based on reviews both on tripadvisor and out travel guide. Although it was a nice experience to eat something more 'fine-dining' than most of the restaurants in the area, it wasn't a great experience for us. On arrival we were welcomed by the waitress, who was friendly but not really welcoming and pleased... More

This restaurant is quiet and secluded, just a short walk away from the top of the Gianicolo hill; the highest point of the city with panoramic views. We had the Chef's tasting menu and it was very impressive.

Staying in Monteverde

Neighborhood Profile
Monteverde
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighborhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centerpiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the center to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
