The gelato of paradise

This little gelateria is popular for a reason. The gelati comes in all kinds of inventive flavors, and you can get it in.... wait for it... a cannoli cone. Is that genius or what? My pistachio tasted like I was chewing cold pistachio nuts, and my wife had something that I think translated to... read more

I'm an ice cream lover and I swear this one is one of the best I've ever eaten. It tastes amazing, I have no words to describe how excellent it is!!! Since it was that good I had two! Not to miss the cannolo cone, a beautiful Sicilian experience! Prices are very reasonable as well, and there is a wide... More

We followed the advice of locals to try "Frigidarium" gelato on Via Governo Velliccio, 112, near Piazza Novola. But, personaly, we found "Gelarmony" gelato fantastic, especially pistachio and hazelnut flavours. "Gelarmony" has its 4 locations in Rome: Via Marcantonio Colonna, 34, Via Oderisi da Gubbio, 201, Via Colli Portuensi, 330, and Viale America, 85. Their cannoli are perfect!

We stopped off here late afternoon after seeing crowds of people queuing for their gelato and eating it outside standing on the pavement. The choices of flavour gelato was great, but the real test was in the tasting of course: fantastic creamy ice cream with excellent natural flavour (creme brulee recommended).

The only place I know where you can avoid milk derivates and taste all the best of sicilian tradition in icecream, especially my favourite pistachio at the soia sector. Of course the same is available in a traditional production too.

As the gelateria in Viale dei Viale Portuensi uses the trip advisor sticker that apparently isn't theirs (but owned by the same family), I feel free to write here. I've just stood, again, in front of a closed door at the gelateria. They write in the window that they're open until 21, however, every time I get there early, tonight... More

We had spent the morning at the Vatican, and had queued for nearly two hours to get in to St. Peter's so I was not overly impressed when my husband suggested we get the Metro to Lepanto and try to find Gelarmony which makes Sicilian Gelato. However it was easily found and after a few free tasters we had our... More

We came here for dessert after lunch at Mondo Arancino. The selection of flavours was fantastic and it was brilliant that they offered vegan options too. We sampled 5 flavours before we settled on which ones to buy (chocolate orange/dark chocolate and chocolate cream/creme caramel). Very helpful, friendly girl serving us and beautiful gelato. Highly recommended!

Staying in Prati

Neighborhood Profile
Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the center, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighboring Borgo, Prati is a local favorite for its aesthetic organization and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
