I started with pasta with lamb meat sauce - absolutely superb. Then (not to be boring) I had rack of lamb, which was as good as I have ever had - perfectly cooked. The waiter recommended a wine, which was also very, very good. The owner of the restaurant was totally charming, and the service was excellent. All in all,... More

We came across osteria 44 while wandering after a long long day in Rome. Far from our bnb, I looked on Google reviews to find something close and was SO happy I found this place! Sergio was, by far, the most amazing host we encountered in Italy. A busy night, he found us a table outside and we didn't even... More

In a quiet, back street behind the American Embassy,Osteria 44 was a real find ! Sitting outside,we chose a mixture of both Roman and modern Italian dishes. Their presentation was wonderful. Pleasant staff, excellent food and no cover or service charge stuck on the bill! We were more than pleased to decide ourselves on how much to tip ( unlike most... More

Loved this place! Walked in! Greeted by waiters. Seated nicely at the window. Didn't bother them that we were in jeans in a fine dining setting. 7 course meal, gave us an option of half of two pastas to share because we couldn't decide which one we wanted from the two, awesome entrees and starters! We were so full but... More

We dine here on Saturday night (16/5/15) upon recommendation of a local hotel (Mascagni) who reserved us a table of 8. Situated on a quiet side street not far from Republicca we were warmly greeted and shown to our table inside which was set at the back of the restaurant and very cosy and quiet. The waiter was absolutely superb... More

Like previous reviewer....we arrived with reservations only to find that we had to wait almost a half hour. With that we decided to sit inside. They offered us a free glass of prosecco which was nice. From that point we barely saw our waiter. We ordered wine which took 20 minutes to get, especially after the waiter said 4 times... More

Our last night in Rome and the concierge recommended this restaurant. They gave us a complimentary glass of Prosecco and the menus (no descriptions in English so we were lost). We had to ask the waiter to review w us! The only restaurant in 12 days that didn't have English descriptions! We placed our order and waited. The caprese was... More

The food was just delicious. What more can be said. I had the steak perfectly prepared to my liking. The potatoes and Italian Broccoli were out of sight amazing. The wine they suggested was a perfect pairing. This was the first meal in Rome and, sadly, maybe the best meal of the whole of our trip. Nothing ever quite lived... More

We had dinner here our last night in Rome. The restaurant is small enough to have an intimate atmosphere, but large enough to allow proper distance between the tables, which is rare in Rome. There is also the option of outdoor dining. The food is quite good, and the prices for both food and wine are reasonable. But what sets... More

Staying in Ludovisi / Via Veneto

Neighborhood Profile
Ludovisi / Via Veneto
Thanks to Fellini and La Dolce Vita, the Ludovisi and Via Veneto neighborhood earned its reputation as a posh area where gorgeous Marcellos wooed actresses and models while bored housewives hung out in streetside cafes. The cafes are still there, and so are the cocktails, but the neighborhood is now home to five-star businesses including hotels, banks, law firms, and embassies. The area is also right next to Villa Borghese, a beautiful park for sporting and cultural adventures. If you're looking for tranquility by night, this may be the place: Ludovisi and Veneto tend to shut down after 8pm.
