Sofia is a perfect little gem of a restaurant near the Spanish steps. The service was so friendly and the food was yummy as my daughter would say. Everything we ate had a unique spin but also tasted delicious but the topper was the pasta Amatriciana. It was one of the best pasta dishes we had in Italy.

Slightly off the beaten track around the corner from the Spanish steps, Sofia offers understated elegant dining. The food is delicate with a Roman slant and of excellent quality ( do not order the bull if you don't like gamey tastes) Great ambiance, music and art on the walls, excellent friendly service, this small restaurant has been on of our... We stumbled across this little restaurant by chance and ended up going back again after our first visit. Run by two sisters this small restaurants delivers big on food and service. The space is cozy but the atmosphere is welcoming and friendly. Service was sharp and attentive. The menu, although not extensive, was tempting and varied. Good wines too. We... More

This was one of our best meals in Rome. My husband and I consult ratings and reviews on Trip Advisor prior to heading out to eat any meal in a big city. We try steering clear of tourist traps. This recommendation was top notch. The restaurant is quite small, so we headed to dinner early to secure a table. We... More

We spend a very nice evening at Sofia. The atmosphere is cosy and quiet as opposed to other very crowded and loud restaurants we have visited in Rome. The waiters were very nice, patient and spoke well English. The food was prepared with a lot of care. Different ingredients and spices coming to a fine and delicate taste. The pasta and... More

We saw this reviewed on Trip advisor and we're not disappointed. The ambiance inside is excellent and just right tempo of background music. Service is 100%. They made us feel really welcoming right for the start. The menu is small but quite specialized and far away from the usual pasta and pizza you get everywhere else. Nice wine selection and... More

Sophia is a hidden gem in Rome. First, they were very kind when I called and made a reservation in English, and when I arrived a bit earlier than my friends, they provided me a complementary glass of champagne! A great start! We had the buffalo mozzarella appetizer, which was delicious -- so nice to try all three varieties, and... More

Four words. LOVELY PEOPLE. GREAT FOOD. This was the best meal I have had in Italy. The owners (I think wife and husband) were amazingly nice and friendly. The waitress was also happy and smiley. It was truly a great meal and night THANK YOU SOFIA. MUCH LOVE. MWAH. DONT EVER CHANGE

Fantastic hospitality and delicious food. The scallops and soufflé starters were two of the best dishes me and my partner have had in Italy- definitely recommend!

Staying in Colonna

Neighborhood Profile
Colonna
Frantic fashionistas, pedicured politicos, goal-oriented tourists, and on-the-go locals cross paths every day in Colonna, a delightful chaos in the very center of the city. Even though it has some of the city’s loveliest sites—a 2nd century column, Belle Epoque shopping center, and a magnificent Baroque parliament building—Colonna is not just another pretty face, but the cosmopolitan eye of Rome’s cultural storm. Colonna can safely say it has the best of Rome: museums, boutiques, window displays, restaurants, cafes, and people watching.
