We'd been walking through Rome and we were tired, as tourists apt to be, when we passed by Sofia Ristorante. The white interior, French music, and simple but elegant decor seemed enticing. We were only planning to have a glass of wine, which we ordered, when the girl suggested some bread? She brought a basket of warm slices dusted with... More

Dined here twice during my visit to Rome in early Sept 2014. It was the nicest restaurant that I experienced whilst in Rome. It is not the type of touristy restaurant (that Rome is full of) that has a (typically) loud, brash and inexperienced waiter/waitress shouting at you from the door asking you to come in and waving a menu... We were staying near the Spanish Steps in June and fell in love with this lovely restaurant. After a day of wandering the streets we decided to choose a small place in the neighborhood. My husband is a chef, so with a quick look at the menu he chose Sofia for our dinner with another couple. We were not disappointed!... More

It's a tiny cute restaurant, super close to the Spanish Steps. The food is absolutely perfect, and the owner is very helpful. The service takes a while, and it's a bit expensive, but it always amazes me what a delight it is to have a meal at Sofia!

We visited Rome for my wife’s birthday and booked Ristorante Sofia on the recommendation of a friend on the evening of her birthday itself. What a treat! The food and wine was fabulous. The tiramisu was to die for (no, really). The restaurant itself was tastefully decorated and lit, with interesting art on the walls. The patrons, Irene and Simon... More

We enjoyed this place so much we went twice over the weekend! Superb fresh pasta and far enough away from the Spanish steps to deter most tourists. It opens a little earlier than most restaurants in Rome for dinner which is great if you have young children.

Great environment and good service, it goes perfectly with the amazing food. Quality is above average and the price follows. Don't leave the place without trying the cabbage leaf with cheese rolls.

Stopped in for lunch while wandering the streets of Rome. Had the Strozzaprati, which was one of the top 3 pasta dishes I had in Rome, if not the best. Not overly complicated - just pasta, red sauce, a little crispy bacon, and some tomatoes. Also had cabbage rolls, which were good. Tiramiso for desert was delicious - served in... More

It was fantastic, what an evening, stayed 3.5 hours, service was slow, but didn't matter, no rush, food was sublime, run by a young couple, and Sofia is their little dog who stays in the restaurant behind the bar, or sitting on one of the chairs of the front table when it's free, watching her masters at work. Great wine... More

Incredible food, and a great place to escape the typucal tourist traps while still enjoying excellent italian cuisine. The service is super friendly and very attentive. Definitely a highlight of the trip, great outdoor seating as well.
