A memorable dining experience!

What a wonderful dining experience at Pipero al Rex! I was alone on this brief visit to Rome and was the first guest of the evening in the restaurant. I think Mr. Pipero may have opened the restaurant especially early for me (7PM seating), for which I was extremely appreciative. I later realized... read more

Just an amazing restaurant. The chef has outdone himself. Each course prepared with perfection and discreet attention to detail. We did the wine pairing with dinner and each course was fantastic followed by amazing dessert. If you are a foodie looking for a great restaurant in Rome, DO NOT MISS! I believe this should be closer to a 2 star.

Food was excellent! Chef's compliments were nice addition to four course a'la carte dinner (when asking about what the tasting menu consists of we didn't get clear answer, only that it includes three courses). The only minus was that the service was unfortunately a little bit pushy and there was a feeling of rush. Worth visiting anyway!

My boyfriend and I went to Pipero al Rex during our Christmas holiday in December. When we arrived we where greeted my the owner, Mr. Pipero himself, after getting us seated at our table we were offered a nice glass of Champagne. Talked to Mr. Pipero about the menu selection and agreed upon a surprise menu, paired with a nice... More

We went for Valentines day. Our reservation was lost somehow, but the staff graciously accommodated us on a very busy night. The service was perfect. The food was great. Some dishes were good, others were amazing. Overall, a great experience.

Having enjoyed numerous Michelin Stared establishments across the world We were greatly looking forward to an Italian experience in Rome. Booked online, confirmed with an early evening booking but when we arrived we were told there was an issue with the online booking facility and we didn't have a reservation. There was no apology, no effort to accommodate an obvious... More

The place is small, located in an old hotel, but when you enter the place you find a simple but very fancy place, with a great service and food. Go for the suggestions of the ownner who takes car of you personally all over the dinner. Not outrageously expensive for a one Michelin star Restaurant.

We have just enjoyed a magical Christmas lunch at Pipero al Rex. The Christmas menu was stunning and thoughtful and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. After discussions, we left it up to Mr Pipero to choose our wines and his selections were perfect. The food was stunning, with no weak dishes, every course was spectacular yet restrained, so by the... More

Our concierge recommended this place - a high-end chef's tasting menu restaurant in a nearby boutique hotel - and was able to get us in las-minute in spite of it only having less than 10 tables. From beginning to end, the experience was artful and adventurous, you can order the chef's prix fixe tasting menu (we did) or go a... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
