We went for Valentines day. Our reservation was lost somehow, but the staff graciously accommodated us on a very busy night. The service was perfect. The food was great. Some dishes were good, others were amazing. Overall, a great experience.

Having enjoyed numerous Michelin Stared establishments across the world We were greatly looking forward to an Italian experience in Rome. Booked online, confirmed with an early evening booking but when we arrived we were told there was an issue with the online booking facility and we didn't have a reservation. There was no apology, no effort to accommodate an obvious... More

The place is small, located in an old hotel, but when you enter the place you find a simple but very fancy place, with a great service and food. Go for the suggestions of the ownner who takes car of you personally all over the dinner. Not outrageously expensive for a one Michelin star Restaurant.

While in Rome, we wanted to enjoy a nice dinner up to Michelin standards. As we always want to try out new places recommended by us from our relations or people in the business. This is our objectif review : Reservations made by e-mail : easy, friendly and correct. The evening itself : Arrived at the location, coats taken and... More

We have just enjoyed a magical Christmas lunch at Pipero al Rex. The Christmas menu was stunning and thoughtful and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. After discussions, we left it up to Mr Pipero to choose our wines and his selections were perfect. The food was stunning, with no weak dishes, every course was spectacular yet restrained, so by the... More

Our concierge recommended this place - a high-end chef's tasting menu restaurant in a nearby boutique hotel - and was able to get us in las-minute in spite of it only having less than 10 tables. From beginning to end, the experience was artful and adventurous, you can order the chef's prix fixe tasting menu (we did) or go a... More

We went to Pipero restaurant driven by Trip Advisor comments. All in all it was a good experience. The appetizers, the potato cream , the pasta dishes, the meats (both lamb and pork), the desserts, all of them, superb. Only the pumpkin ravioli, unexpectedly cold, were dissapointing. Everything plus a Tocana wine bottle, came at 95 € each, which is... More

As we were staying at the Hotel Rex and read good reviews of the restaurant, we decided to treat ourselves and go on my birthday. We've also never tried a restaurant with a Michelin star rating and wanted to know what the experience would be like. Our reservations were at 7:30pm on a Monday and there were was only 1... More

Since my last visit things have improved quite a bit. The food is in a class of its own, the service is first class and Alessandro Pipero is a fantastic guy. I especially liked the duck tartare, the caviare pasta and the lamb. The wine list is impressive and consistent. Absolute top.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
