Amazing food and fantastic service

Fantastic cooking by the chef. The dishes displayed great technique and finesse. We had the 7 course tasting menu (100 euros). The best dishes were the (1) cuttlefish with peas, (2) mussels and tripe - this was served with a white tomato foam that we loved, and (3) mackerel with horserashish... read more

My husband and I got the tasting menu with wine pairings. Everything was excellent, from the service, to the intimate ambience (only 8 tables!), and most importantly, the food and wine. Inventive presentations of the food and free-flowing lovely wine pairings were evident throughout. Remember to reserve in advance. Thanks for a beautiful and unique dining experience in Rome, Mr.... It was an excellent choice of menu of chef's choice. We would typically expect that Italian food would be based on pasta dishes but it was out of our imagination of typical Italian food. Very artistic and intimate Italian food. They were 100 euro but way worth the price. If you are a food lover, go for it!

We felt warmly welcomed by Mr. Pipero himself, a good feeling to begin with. Classy ambience, relaxed atmosphere and delicious creative food- especially for a vegetarian like me, it was a delight. I was suggested 'A potato soup with egg and nuts in base with specially made aromatic tea powder sprinkled on top... that was out of the world taste.... More

Having read impressive reviews, we had high expectations, which were sadly dashed. We did not want to try the tasting menu, but the waiter seemed offended when we asked for further details of the main courses, which were listed (in English) as simply "pork" and "lamb" (he also visibly bristled when I asked which wines came by the glass). My... More

Having enjoyed our first visit half a year ago, the second time did not disappoint. First rate service, attentive staff and relaxing and tranquil atmosphere. A number of amazing dishes, including the mackerel starter and the lamb main dish. Excellent wine list with reasonable markups. Will surely return soon.

Really good experience. Before we went there we didn't know what to expect but now I have to say that this restaurant is a worth to visit. My first time to a Michelin star restaurant for a tasting menu. And I wasn't disappointed. Mr. Pipero was a very nice Italian young man with touching smile. Not only did he arrange the seats for me and my partner, he welcomed us with some chilled sparkling wine and some snacks. The tasting menu is full of surprises. We followed... More

I am a huge foodie, and let me just say this was the meal of my life. I don't care for stuffy stoic presentation but I do appreciate professionalism. And this restaurant was just that. The owner was attentive and visited all 7 tables more than once. He would smile and welcome feedback but he maintained a professional manner. He did... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
