An unbelievable experience: fantastic food, friendly hospitality and a great atmosphere in this cozy little restaurant. The owner/ chef/ host leads you throughout the evening in this great experience.

Whist the food and wine were excellent the whole experience was an awkward one. the staff and the owner were pretentious and unwelcoming. We have just had 4 weeks driving through Italy eating at Gamberro Rosso recommended restaurants and have loved them all. the food at Pipero was as good as other places but the experience was anything but enjoyable.... The ravioli stuffed with chicory, topped with burrata and a kind of ceviche anchovies, marinated in lemon juice -- all of it sprinkled with chopped dried black olives, the epitome of umami -- with dots of crema made with olive oil and salted anchovies -- themselves one of Italy's masterpieces -- and pickled, grilled shallots, was the culinary highlights of... Very quirky with touches of Heston Blumenthals style at the Fat Duck in Bray. Too much information will spoil the surprise, but only 6 tables in the unlikely setting of the Rex hotel, with the rather zany owner and chef always hovering around. We took the surprise menu so had no idea what to expect, how much to expect, when to... More

Our best dining experience in Rome with exceptional service and a lovely host. With only 7 tables, this restaurants boasts true class and refinery. The food is absolutely spectacular - would strongly suggest the raw duck tartare and pigeon as a main meal.

If you like getting away from the hordes of Centro Storico and Roma Antigua and enjoying a true 5 star restaurant, the Pipero al Rex is definitely for you. With only 7 tables in total and a warm attention by signore Pipero himself, and a magnificent royal service by Aquile, this restaurant is truly a Roman Jewel. P.S if this... More

Just had our best meal in Rome!. We arrive and get given complimentary sparkling wine and 2x complimentary appetisers. Then our meals: entree of raw Duck tartare, mains of Pigeon and Pork Loin, and an amazing dessert of White Chocolate foam with white chocolate ice cream, hazelnuts and cherries. And 2x final complimentary desserts. Also a whole bottle of wine.... More

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
