First Class Restaurant in Rome!

If you like getting away from the hordes of Centro Storico and Roma Antigua and enjoying a true 5 star restaurant, the Pipero al Rex is definitely for you. Just had our best meal in Rome!. We arrive and get given complimentary sparkling wine and 2x complimentary appetisers. Then our meals: entree of raw Duck tartare, mains of Pigeon and Pork Loin, and an amazing dessert of White Chocolate foam with white chocolate ice cream, hazelnuts and cherries. And 2x final complimentary desserts. Also a whole bottle of wine.... More

Neatly tucked away inside a hotel, very close to the Opera house and Central station, Pipero Al Rex is the perfect restaurant for a romantic evening for two, with one of Rome's finest host's, Alexandro Pipero. He will help guide you through your evening, and the food and experience is breathtaking. It is also excellent value.

We came for the fame of the carbonara and discovered that, not only the fame is right (it was the best carbonara I ever had!), but it goes beyond!! All the dishes - - appetizer, first, main, dessert and the "mimos" - were simply delicious! Good food, for those who aporeciatte eating, and not only the "atmosphere" or the "fame"!... More

Definitely try the tasting menu (menu degustazione). What really stood out....creative, delicious, amusing combinations of textures, colours, and flavours. And great bilingual (English and/or Italian) service, including, as many have mentioned, the attention of Mr. Pipero himself. Bit of advice (which may seem obvious but we did wander up and down the street a bit before finding the restaurant): the... More

Came here for a long lunch one Saturday afternoon and enjoyed the 7 course tasting menu. The menu wasn't particularly set (which I liked) so you could indicate any likes or dislikes and they would oblige. The food was some of the best I have ever had and I can understand why they have a Michelin star. The waiting staff... More

We had the tasting menu. The food was excellent, however, it would have been helpful if we knew the number of courses ahead of time, so we could pace ourselves. The portions were large for a tasting menu. The atmosphere of the restaurant is relaxed, unlike most other Michelin-starred restaurants. The service, while good, is just ever so slightly less... Our first meal in Rome,at this restaurant, was flawless. Delicious food created by a brilliant young chef, served in an elegant room in the Rex Hotel. There are only six tables so the owner, Alexander Pipero, is able to be like a proud father during the two and a half hour experience. Dining at Pipero Al Rex was a memorable... More

The food was great though there are some other places in Rome a little better, Mr. Pipero is very nice, though the waiters especially one of them was not very friendly.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
