Food was good, service poor

We dropped in without a reservation and were warmly welcomed. We wide red and then waited. And waited. After about an hour we checked whether the order might have got lost (several other tables who came in after us ate and left) and food appeared shortly after. The food was ok- the Angus kebab was... read more

Judging from the Michelin awards on the door, we thought we might be in for a treat after some pretty disappointing food experiences in Rome. (Whatever happened to Italian cooking? Did it all emigrate?) The place is nice and we were quickly seated with menus. The wait person had little English (fair enough, I have little Italian, but in a... More

We came here for lunch on a Saturday on the advice of our guide and were generally pleased. The food is quite tasty--great appetizers (field green salad, an excellent soft-boiled egg opener, a good anchovy toast). The pastas were fresh and nicely done. However, the service was very inconsistent. Had to ask three times for a glass of orange juice... More

Caffe Propaganda was a terrific restaurant with very kind and considerate service unlike other places that have very snooty service in Rome. The food was very good, very classical Roman cuisine and the Restaurant was spacious, open and very clean, including the restrooms. We were recommended to Caffe Propaganda by a friend and we were very pleased. The food and... More

We met a friend here for dinner during. It is very conveniently located, close to the Colosseum. We started with the Buffalo Mozzarella which was excellent and a caesar's salad. We each ordered pasta for main dishes. I had Grandma's fettuccini, which was ok. My daughter enjoyed a pasta with tomato sauce and bacon (Amaratriana, I think), which was delicious.... More

We came here for dinner on a weekend without reservation. Although the restaurant was completely booked out for later that evening, the hostess was very welcoming and did her best to accommodate us. Our waitress was also just amazing. Very friendly, fast and made us feel special. I had some grilled calamari and I have to say it was some... More

Close to the Colosseum, this slightly hidden cafe is well worth visiting for a drink or snack. The stylish interiors and the good offer account for a very satisfying experience. Pity we didn't get to meet the owner.

Nouvelle cuisine and Rome don't mix. Went for the gnocchi and a hot chocolate and neither available! A deconstructed tiramisu nearly saved the day, as pasta was not al dente more dipped in boiling water. Read the menu carefully and ask questions as it is not all that it seems eg Angus steak kebab with roast potatoes was a fancy... More

Just dropped by for drinks by chance and what a great place. The restaurant was really popular and attracted people of all ages and types. They have a vast range of drinks on offer at the bar and all the staff were attentive and friendly. All added up to making a lovely evening.

Best Caesar salad I've ever eaten. The pasta was awesome too. Went here for a leisurely lunch after touring the colosseum based on a review in a guide book. Definitely not the place to go for a quick lunch, but if you have the time the food is worth it. Seemed to have a good list of rotating daily specials,... More

Staying in Monti

Neighborhood Profile
Monti
Monti is Rome’s rebel yell. This neighborhood just west of Termini train station mixes grit with fun as it continues to fight for its reputation as a magnet for the artsy, alternative, and hipster. Every season, quirky boutiques and food spots sprout up on its cobblestone streets. The neighborhood supports unique and homegrown businesses that cater to its longtime residents as well as hipsters on the hunt.
