As part of our tour of Rome we all lunched at Papa Rex. Restaurant - Was clean and tidy Staff - Polite and helpful however I did feel the man dressed as a gladiator was cheesier than their lasagne. Food - a four course set menu with 12 olives and 12 slices of cheese to go with the 2 baskets... More

A fun location, with live music and entertainment. Seems more aimed at tour groups but has a good quality menu while not the most authentic very good quality. Would recommend but note isnt fine dining more casual.

....as we did. Other reviewers have said it, this place is cheesy beyond belief, aimed at organised tour parties and not for discerning diners. Food was passable but nothing special.

We visited Papa Rex on the first night of our break in Rome - the food was lovely, but it was a bit of a shame that the restaurant was so quiet and lacked a bit of atmosphere. The Gladiator on the door played on his mobile phone most of the time!

You can get a good meal here - but it is aimed at tour groups with set meals and entertainment. However, we were still served promptly and with attention. The overall quality of the food was good and it was a good price for a set meal. We visited the evening of Christmas Day.

Had an authentic Italian pizza at Papa Rex Restaurant on 28th Oct'14. It is situated 5 mins ftom St. Peter. The pizza was delicious and crispy with thin crust and cheese. A typical Italian pizza. Garlic spaghetti is also good.

A fun way to wind up a tour of Italy if you don't take yourself too seriously. Food was ok; service was good for our group of 50+ and the entertainment was schmaltzy! Didn't like the centurion at the door and photo offered for sale afterward. Agree with others, tourist trap and if you are looking for good food in... More

The food was ok to good. Service was good and live entertainment. Its more aimed af larger tourist groups. Had a salmon with sesame that was really good and a mixed fish plate that was not a top meal.

One night in February (a stone's throw from St. Peter's), my wife and I were tired, hungry and drawn to this restaurant by the attractive foliage, candles etc. outside. It does look pretty. We parked the car (always a challenge in Rome) and went into the restaurant. We were greeted by a "centaurian" at the door about to step outside... More
