Well done

...I found this place using my tripadvor app on my mobile and trusted it fully. What a great choice. Real authentic Roman place for this half touristic half residential area, one of then best if not the only one here in Rome. Everything was great. The welcoming was warm and nice . We arrived fairly late in the evening and were looking for somewhere affordable and walkable from our hotel. The concierge recommended this place and we were not disappointed. The food was simple yet amazing, and the staff were kind and welcoming. This was a wonderful place to visit on our first night in Rome.

It's everything that you would expect from a family-run local restaurant: A warm welcoming atmosphere with randomly-collected decorations and tables placed wherever they fit. Half of the patrons are locals, prices very reasonable for Rome, and mom doesn't speak a word of English (don't worry - the rest do) but smiles anyway. The menu is unusually well-stocked and mom's seasonings... More

We visited Cucina Romana on the basis of TA reviews and were very pleased we did. A family run restaurant with fantastic customer service. Daniele who runs front of house made recommendations which we were happy to follow, and was so friendly he made our evening so much more enjoyable. The food was delicious with many home made dishes. The... More

We visited the restaurant after a recommendation from our hotel Inn Urbe Varicano. It was our first night in Rome and a perfect start to our holiday! The restaurant is small, quaint, authentic and cosy. There was a friendly and welcoming atmosphere from the lovely staff. We had starters, mains, puddings, wine, beer and coffee and it was a bargain... More

We were staying in a hotel close by, and needed somewhere close to go. This place was great. Classic rich Italian food. It was phenomenal. I imagine Julius Caesar eating food like this. Also, that cake and I'm not talking about dessert.

We weren't sure where we were heading and walked in by chance. We surely didn't regret it! From the first step in, the service was truly friendly and we felt most welcome in the place. We received good explanation of the menu and best advices about food and wine. Lots of homemade items. We had a wonderful time and will... More

We ate here based off of the glowing TripAdvisor reviews but were a bit disappointed in the food. First, though, the service was very friendly and helpful, which we appreciated, so the restaurant does get points for customer service. The food itself, though, was average by normal Roman restaurant standards. We started with fried moscardini (basically little tiny squid), but... More

Read some TA reviews before we travelled to Rome and found the Cucina on our second evening. We had a very enjoyable evening meal with delicious fresh pasta and fish. Also by Rome standards this Cucina represents excellent value. Our Hotel ( dei Mellini ) had made a few restaurant recommendations but they were all very pricey so we avoided... More

Neighborhood Profile
Prati
Just steps away from the chaos of the center, Prati is the closest Rome gets to calm. Meticulously planned in a neat grid, quite unlike neighboring Borgo, Prati is a local favorite for its aesthetic organization and wide streets lined with a range of boutiques for every shopping fantasy. Nonnis pushing baby carriages and gossiping teens own every inch of the sidewalk, but that’s only during business hours. Once the sun sets, quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.
