The restaurant was full when we arrived (always a good sign) so we sat outside and then met Daniele who explained all the best parts of the menu. We ordered some anti-pasti, the risotto balls and they were delicious. We then had some Gnocchi which was the best i have ever had anywhere. The place had a great family feel... More

The name means kitchen up and down, the restaurant is up stairs ,down stairs and ground floor. We dined there 4 times ,the first so wonderful we had to go back.My husband a gnocchi lover said it was the best he had ever eaten, very light with beautiful sauces. The standard menu has a variety of beautiful tasting food, the hard thing is... More

Recommended by our hotel staff for Pasta. And it was wonderful. Welcomed like family. And food was delicious. Daniele was a delight. His recommendations were perfect. From the appetizers to dessert. And he spoke English very well, too. 5 Stars!!

This restaurant was recommended to me and my husband by the owner of an Inn where we stayed while in Rome. (Btw, Castel Sant'Angelo Inn offers excellent accommodations.) This was one of the best meals we had in Rome. It’s a family-run restaurant, and you can tell they put their heart and soul into it. It’s not “touristy” and is... More

Our experience of Su & Gui was mixed. The service started out very warm and friendly, offering us many Italian specialty foods 'freshly prepared by the family'. I had the Gnocchi which was very nice, my partner had the cod which was not up to the standards we expected. It was clearly not fresh and rather dry. The waiter did... More

Our hotel recommend this little restaurant located near the Vatican. Our waiter, the owners' son, was really amicable and recommended traditional homemade dishes: he was so proud of the food and wanted us to experience and taste the real italian cuisine. My boyfriend had homemade carbonara pasta and it was simply amazing. I had homemade gnochis that were so fresh... More

Although this is far from our actual home, the entire family whom runs the restaurant made everyone feel at home. I have nothing new to add that has not already been stated in previous reviews....But after 12 days in Italy which included eating in Florence and Cinque Terre, the experience and the food here at Su e Giu surpassed everything... We visited this delightful family owned restaurant several evenings on our recent trip to Rome. Daniele and his mama, Anna, treated us like family! We enjoyed delicious pasta dishes, and papa's signature appetizer....a sumptuous layered melange of potatoes, mushrooms, butter, and asiago cheese. Mama had us try her chambelina cookies, and treated us to a delightful Spumante to dip them in.... More

The food is excellent, the atmosphere is homely and relaxed, and the staff are great. Daniele and the blonde waitress (his wife?) are very helpful. It's small though, and there aren't too many tables, so book to avoid disappointment.
