good but not amazing

I've eaten here several times (both this year and two years ago) and each time had a good dinner. I've eaten pasta, secondi, and pizza. It's good; the service is fine (although we went there a couple of weeks ago and the place was EMPTY except for one other table--we were asked if we had a... read more

we were delighted to eat here (several times) again after two years, & find it as good as ever. The pizzas in particular, are as good as you'll find anywhere, the steaks are great, the starters are huge ( beware!) I was surprised to see criticism of the wine list in another post, the wine list is very good. The... More

We had a two week stay around the corner from La Gianicolense and found it to be an excellent restaurant to visit when we were not going into Rome itself, the main thing we ( myself, my wife and daughter ) enjoyed about it was that not only could you get a lovely meal at reasonable prices ( for Rome... First class friendly service, no matter how busy. We were lucky enough to have a flat2 minutes walk away, so ate there several times. Fabulous steaks, wonderful pizzas. Yum.... wish I was there....

Staying in Monteverde

Neighborhood Profile
Monteverde
Above the city on the Janiculum hill, Monteverde is Rome’s popular "getaway" neighborhood, coveted for its greenery. Rome's largest urban park, Villa Pamphili, is the area's centerpiece with affordable prices and peace and quiet. Monteverde is just far enough away from the center to feel like you’re on a Roman holiday and close enough to feel the lure of Rome's chaos. Though its downside is the lack of scheduled public transport, this family-oriented area is literally a well-deserved walk in the park.
