I had the spaghetti aloe vongole and it was superb. We got the house wine and it too was very good. Our waiter was friendly and fun. I highly recommend it. I don't remember the dessert we had because we wanted Tiramisu but it was out and our waiter suggested a cream puff type pastry with chocolate and whipped cream... More

We dined at La Franchescana on a visit to Rome based on a recommendation from the staff at the Hotel Sant Angelo. It was one of the best recommendations we received. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. It was our first visit to Rome in many years and we had to adjust to a different cultural experience... More

We are from Hong Kong, and there are many top end Italian restaurants. We spent a few days in Milan, Venice, and then Rome. We were surprised by this unassuming restaurant which allowed us to find the dish we wanted. There was mussel, scampi risotto, pizza, etc. The quality was excellent, except probably the bread. It was really good value... More

We had not read any previous reviews and decided to eat at this restaurant because it had plenty of customers. We were asked to wait outside for a table which we didnt mind. When we were seated we ordered straight away as we had looked at the menu while waiting. I ordered the scampi risotto and my partner ordered tomato... More

Excellent food, excellent atmosphere and great service. The best place we ate in rome; family run restaurant with nice relaxed atmosphere, fresh food at great prices. The tiramisu is delicious (I had to ask for the recipe, will try and recreate back home!). Great experience all round, definitely recommend.

We had a really enjoyable meal, excellent value, home cooked Italian food. There seemed to be many locals in the restaurant, which is usually a good sign. Having read the other reviews I agree this is a traditional Italian restaurant, but visitors ARE welcome, the waiters DO have a basic grasp of English - far better than my Italian!...and between... Visited last weekend with my partner. We chose this place to eat as it was near our hotel. Food was very good and freshly cooked. I had the salmon pasta, with a side salad and it was very tasty - pasta cooked al dente as pasta should be and with a very good sauce. Delicious desserts to choose from. Decent... More

Just been here tonight and it was really, really good, we had pasta mains, all freshly cooked and served with side salads and some dessert to die for, havent got a clue what anything was called but it was delicious. I must say the staff only speak Italian really, and for the first few minutes it was a little awkward,... More
