Description: The pub takes its name from the world renowned Irish National Theatre...
The pub takes its name from the world renowned Irish National Theatre, which was founded by William Butler Yeats and Lady Gregory.Stage props and costumes from the storerooms of the Abbey Theatre have been used in the decor, giving the pub a very special atmosphere. The six fully air conditioned rooms of the pub are spread over two floors, and a huge range of Irish whiskeys, cocktails and long drinks are on offer, as well as Irish beers on tap including, of course, the famous Guinness. The Abbey Theatre offers irish, italian and international cuisine all day everyday. We are able to show all major sports throughout the pub on 14 TV screens. ( NFL, Premiership, Serie A, Rugby World Cup...). The pub has a happy hour during the daytime, live irish music every week, and free Wi-Fi.The pub also offers private parties or weddings. Our welcoming pub, is considered one of the best in the city and it is laid out in typical Irish style with lots of little rooms linked by narrow corridors.

Friendly Air Conditioned Bar

Visited The Abbey Bar a few times on our last visit, very clean, good atmosphere and good air con, a welcome relief from the sun. Bar staff very friendly. Food looked good although we didn't eat here, a little pricey at €6 a pint and €4 a soft drink but it is one of few places you get the... read more

We found this by chance on one of our wanders, and much to my husbands delight discovered they were showing a myriad of football games. Cracking place which looks like a proper pub ( Italians don't seem to know what an actual pub is/or should look like) spread over several small rooms. Good choice of drinks and a menu that... More

To go to a bar in Rome is usually an underwhelming experience. Oddly Rome, at least for me, is not a bar city, especially as you can have alcohol in any cafe. So, when I want to have a good night on the town or go to a bar I ALWAYS go to Abbey Theatre. Whether I begin at Abbey,... More

Went to watch the USA vs Cuba match in the Gold Cup at 11:00 pm and left the family at the hotel. Dave the bartender from Ireland (been in Rome 9 years) was very cool and friendly. Lots of local Romans came in as well and he knew their drinks right off the bat. Great Irish pub experience in a... More

I've been coming here for years and am always impressed with the staff. Trying the fish and chips now. The A/C is very nice on a 90 degree day in Rome. Near the Piazza Navona.

We found this bar on our way back to our apartment in Rome and we instantly fell in love with the entire staff. All of the bartenders were so kind and recommended things to do while on our vacation. Even though we loved our entire stay in Rome, the Abbey Theatre Irish Pub was one of the most memorable parts... More

My boyfriend and i found the abbey theatre through tripadvisor. We went there on our 4th day and ordered food and had a couple of drinks. The food was really tasty and the portions were quite big too! We really stuffed ourselves. The waitress was friendly but a little absentminded. All in all a nice place to hang out and... More

We went for dinner near this pub and were so happy to find it! The drinks are great and they were some of the best priced cocktails in town. My wife is Irish and it was just really nice to find a place that could make a good cocktail and not just rely on wine like most of Rome. This... More
