The pub takes its name from the world renowned Irish National Theatre, which was founded by William Butler Yeats and Lady Gregory.Stage props and costumes from the storerooms of the Abbey Theatre have been used in the decor, giving the pub a very special atmosphere. The six fully air conditioned rooms of the pub are spread over two floors, and a huge range of Irish whiskeys, cocktails and long drinks are on offer, as well as Irish beers on tap including, of course, the famous Guinness. The Abbey Theatre offers irish, italian and international cuisine all day everyday. We are able to show all major sports throughout the pub on 14 TV screens. ( NFL, Premiership, Serie A, Rugby World Cup...). The pub has a happy hour during the daytime, live irish music every week, and free Wi-Fi.The pub also offers private parties or weddings. Our welcoming pub, is considered one of the best in the city and it is laid out in typical Irish style with lots of little rooms linked by narrow corridors.

A great Irish Pub

I like Italian food but just fancied a change and they had a good choice of none Italian food on the menu here. I think a Irish pub should have some Irish staff and they do here. Good service and atmosphere. recommended.

I have always enjoined stopping off at the Abbey, usually after a trip the Frigidariun across the street (best gelato in all of Italy). The Abbey has a great tap selection and is a classic Irish pub transplanted into the heart of Rome. If you are a weary English language traveler, stopping off at the Abbey will instantly brighten your... More

Went to the abbey bar with my partner on way back from vacation city. As soon as we walked in the door we were made feel very welcome by the two irish lads behind the bar.we ordered food and watched the arsenal match.food was fab atmosphere was fab and the craic and banter from the boys behind the bar was... There are a few Irish pubs in Rome but this one is pretty good regarding Service and Food in comparison to others in Rome. Irish Bars in General are expensive in Rome but this is a little easier on the pocket. Staff are friendly and pretty quick to serve. Great place for dessert across the street called Frigidarium (awesome ice... More

We came across this pub before travelling to Rome to watch Wales in the rugby. So glad we found this place in advance, as they offer free transport to and from the Stadio Olympico for away fans - you just need to book early via email. In addition they also reserve tables for before/after the game which was perfect as... More

We were a party of French away supporters who had lunch in the pub and then took the coach to the match and back - free . Great idea . Lunch was brilliant - irish smoked salmon , wonderful burgers and chips etc . After the awful match between France and Italy - we came back for dinner and one... More

Girlfriend and I found this pub while walking. It had a quiz on so we entered due to weather being a little damp. Most of people were probably the same. Well with bad Italian and even worse English for reading the question you can forgive us for a poor result. The staff were very jovial and attentive without being annoying.... More

Myself and my girlfriend stumbled across this place by accident while wandering around Rome at the end of our visit trying to kill time before heading to the airport. We ended up staying for most of the day. Such an authentic irish bar, felt like I could have been in Ireland. Had the GAA via TG4 on the TV, great... More

Spent a very enjoyable few hours here with some Irish guys from Limerick watching the Wales/ Ireland 6 Nations game. Not the place to come if you want a traditional Roman experience but very comfortable despite the place being packed. Get there early if you want a seat though

If you are looking for a true Irish pub experience in Rome the Abbey Theatre is for you! I spent 3 months in Rome over the winter and originally popped into the Abbey to see a football game. They are great for all televised sports but there is a whole lot more to the Abbey than sport. I quickly became... More
