This restaurant has been written up in several international publications, which helps explain the large number of tourists in addition to the locals that frequent this place, but its fame has not hampered in any way the quality of the food. One of the reasons we love L'Asino D'Oro, in the midst of a sea of Roman-style restaurants, is the... More

We can only speak to lunch, tripped upon this nice little bistro along a narrow alley - as others have stated, an excellent lunch for 13€, including a glass of wine, water, soup (potato), pasta (barley) and main (leg of lamb). Menu changes with regularity...service was great, people watching was good too!

Excellent modern Italian food, it was so good we went back there three times, great value for lunch, and exquisite food for dinner.

This place is known for umbrian region food, and has a very cheap 13 euro (including everything, no bread charge, etc) lunch that includes 3 courses, a glass of wine and water. Food was well prepared and tasty, a pleasant experience.

We ended up here upon the recommendation of our tour guide, after a hot and crowded day at the Colosseum. Upon entry the wait staff made sure to point out to us that the menu was set, and we looked at it in both English and Italian. Upon making sure we were happy with the menu we were seated. The... We went shopping in this interesting Monti area and were lucky to randomly pick this restaurant for lunch. This was the best meal we had in Rome and definitely also the best value, being fixed price for 13 euro including wine and water. We came back again on the return leg of our journey for the flight out. You take... More

We sat down here not knowing that it had been on Mario Batalli's list of 5 "musts" in Rome. It's an unpretentious place, half tables on the street, in a relatively unfashionable neighborhood. But the food is superb. They assigned us a waitress with better English, and she guided us to the chef's specialties, like Wild Boar with Chocolate Sauce... More

Where do I begin? We lived in Rome for six months and wish we had made a more concerted effort to visit L'Asino D'Oro on a weekly basis! The service is wonderful across the board. From wine suggestions to detailed food descriptions...they answered every question and made recommendations to complement our choices. They were very welcoming to us (as Americans)... More

We had an extraordinary meal. The food and service were excellent. The menu is based on original associations (I.e. meat and chocolate) and meals are very savourous. Employees and service was very professionnal and dedicated, a pure pleasure. We strongly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for exquisite italian food. Highly appreciated!

What a truly unique experience we had at L’Asino D’Oro. Our lunch was outstanding on all accounts. We commend Lucio on creating such an impressive prix fixe lunch that included everything. The food was excellent and the service was spectacular. Thank you so much.
