I stumbled across this gem by chance whilst I was shopping in the small street one day. I enquired in a lovely dress shop if they could recommend any good restaurants in the area. They recommended L'Asino d'Oro which was located across the street from them. What a serendipitous find. My husband and I dined there that night. The food... More

Love this restaurant. In fact went back again after a great experience on first night. Reservations recommended as they are very popular and it fills up fast. They serve modern Italian food and it is delicious. We tried the bacon and snails starters, 2 different pastas, choc wild boar and pork for main courses, ginger mint choc cake and tiramisu... More

I ate at the Golden donkey on my own, so i appreciated not only the excellent food, but also the by-the-glass wines (i had frascati for white, merlot laziale for red), and the professional service. Will certainly be back, especially hearing how people booking a table for one by phone (I was lucky, being the last walk-in customer that evening)... More

The Chef here uses traditional recipes and ingredients to revisit to his own personal taste. Nothing mega fancy but I found it exquisite. Good service, a good wine list and good value for money. Especially good value for money for Saturday lunch when there is a set menu at set price. To me the Tiramisu (made with bread) was a... More

The best you can get of the regional cuisine from Lazio, from the roman tradition and more (from the creativity of Lucio, the chef) at the L'Asino d'Oro restaurant. Food of seasonal characteristics, a bit of savor imagination, of color combination... et voilà the best cuisine in town at the lowest price. Excellent wine selection, besides. I will certainly go... This restaurant was near our apartment in the Monti neighborhood, which is a great area. We first went for lunch, which you need reservations for. They offered a fixed-price menu for a great value. We received a bread with a cauliflower spread, an artichoke soup, an outstanding gnocchi pasta course w/ fish sauce, and more fish as a main. Very... More

We ate dinner here, having several different dishes, all of which were excellent. Waiters were helpful and service was good. The place is nice, although our table was rather small and near the door, which did not close properly unless pushed all the way (which nobody did, forcing the waiters to do it themselves every now and then). It was... More

My husband and I found this place in our tour book (we almost skipped it because of that) and we were wonderfully surprised at how great our meal was. We sat outside on a warm September evening and watched the flow of local folks come in to the restaurant. The menu was simple yet full of local recipes and unique... More

Went here without a reservation, but was able to be given a table, albeit not in the main restaurant area, but in a side area alongside the bar. The food was excellent and at a reasonable price. Excellent service. There was also seating outside on the pavement, but it seemed rather shabby compared with the internal area.
