Popular sunday brunch spot!

Good but slightly overpriced Sunday brunch buffet (€15), good range of food from pasta to salads, bread/crustini, meat dishes and desserts. Drinks extra. The food is prepared fresh and chefs are constantly bringing out new dishes. However, this means that you could miss some things - when I went... read more

I have visited this restaurant as a suggestion from a local. It looks nothing special from outside and walking up the stairs you might wonder, if you are at the right place. But this is an absolutely astonishing restaurant with a beautiful decor, fresh flowers (even in the toilets) and a very nice terrace. I would say it is even... More

The restaurant was recommended by our hotel manager. Be sure to go to the upstairs restaurant. The night we visited it was full of Roman families having a good time. The menu is really interesting. There is Pizza and pasta but also tripe, osso bucco, liver and ox-tail. Local wine was very nice and the bill was very reasonable.

just back from a social dinner for a conference, I found the service poor, the quality of food medium (meat dish surprisingly poor) and we even had a negative surprise for the final bill. We were 48 people and they pretended we paid for 50 because we had reserved for 50 +/-5 people (the restaurant was half empty!). The charged... More

We selected Angelina by chance and were surprised by the food and service. The carbonara was the richest ever, meat sizzling hot and tender and were utterly surprized when Lina, our young waitress knows about the difference between Mavrudaphne (special grape from Patra) and Mavrud, a regional grape variety from South Bulgaria. She then recommends an excellent wine cheaper then... More

We were giving a high recommendation to this restaurant, from our hotel concierge. The ambience was nice and I imagine the food excellent based upon his recommendation, however I will never know because I walked out before we were served any food or beverage (not something I do often at all). He made a reservation for us on a Sunday... More

I came to Angelina as one of my Roman friends advised to visit it. The place was almost completely full with locals by 9pm and the atmosphere was nice. I had Spaghetti Carbonara which was prepared in an authentic way and although the portion was quite small for the price, it was still quite good.

We came to Angelina for brunch and enjoyed it. There is a variety of dishes, from pasta, meat, fried vegatables, beans, chickpea stews and more. The cooks are constantly bringing in new dishes so everything you get is fresh. The quality of food is unexpectly good for a buffet. They seem to have some kind of deal with Nescafé as... More

We knew nothing except we were hungry and there seemed to lots of Roman families having brunch/lunch at this place. So we joined the line. This place has an informal type of 'service'--buffet style. You pay a flat price for everything and extra for beverages. The food is generally good, not gourmet, just solid fare--pastas, salads, soups, and mostly healthy... More

Here we go with the typical place which usurped a resounding reputation...While of course locals tend to disdain this kind of fake of authentic and glorious Roman cuisine, tourist may fall victim of the establishment's allure as a "trendy" place. Avoid the trap. A couple of weeks ago, Thursday night, 9:30pm, I reluctantly had to join some friends who regretfully... More

Neighborhood Profile
Testaccio
Put the house music on replay and you have Testaccio, an ancient Roman port and former working class neighborhood where the bass is set to high almost every night of the week. Its collection of discoteche (nightclubs), street parties, and crowded restaurants give it its well-deserved party reputation. During the daytime, Testaccio is more easy listening than club hit, the area is full of locally owned small businesses and has one of the city's larger produce markets.
