We went there early in the evening and got there just after the restaurant opened. We hot a table but the place filled quickly and during the time we stayed there they sent several people away because they were already full. So i would recommend to place a reservation. The food was very delicious. There is nothing to complain about... More

we booked for the following night as there was a Q outside when we first tried to get in... When we arrived for our booking the place was packed with Italians so you kinda know you have got it right! The food was amazing (i had meatballs) and the local wine was 8 euros for a litre and really very... More

This wasn't my favorite spot in Rome but not terrible. You could do better in the area though. We had some pasta dishes. My friend had spaghetti with clams and he said the clams did not taste fresh...and he was not feeling well the next day. Service was not particularly friendly either.

Finding authentic, affordable dining near the Forum is very difficult but Taverna Romana is the real deal. It's a ten minute walk from the Forum, on a small quiet street, making it the perfect lunch stop for a day of sight-seeing. It's a small and cozy restaurant frequented by local Romans and the food here is extremely delicious and reasonably... More

At after two false starts and two other let's not, we settled on this gem. Despite the other reviews, we got in right away, in the middle of the dinner period. The menue was filled with home cooked items. We went for a 5 course meal. They were very supportive of us splitting the meal. They plated up our pasta... More

Here we had the yummiest bruschetta while in Italy. So simple looking, but so much flavor. Enjoyed the two pasta dishes too. The server spoke excellent English, and was really personable. Small dining room, so get there early if you want a table.

Wonderful true Italian food. Pasta dishes were rich and flavorful and meat dishes were traditional with a twist. Great food and small intimate atmosphere. Note - this place is small and fills up quickly - go early and enjoy!

After our bike tour, our tour guide recommended this place for the "best pasta in Rome". As a local, we took his advice and were not disappointed. You definitely need reservations OR you need to be patient and pushy. There is no traditional waiting list like in the US, so you need to stand in the doorway and stare down... More

We popped in to Taverna Romana for a late Tuesday lunch and managed to get the last unoccupied table. After a good few hours of walking the city we were foot sore and looking forward to having a relaxing meal... it wasn't to be. When we were given the menus we were told that the kitchen was closing in half... More

There's going to be a wait, maybe half an hour or more. But there's a reason this place is always jammed. The food is absolutely spectacular, like sitting there stunned with your spoon in your mouth great. It's simple food made with the best ingredients -- like fresh pasta -- and the results are the best. The pasta e fagioli... More
