authentic little place

you want to rate the experience 3 out of 5, but you can't because the place is not "average" in any way. The food is great, pasta and meats were tasty and special, too. So for the food alone we would be back. However, you never really feel comfortable in the place, as many other reviewers have... read more

This is a wonderful little restaurant in Rome. Our food was fresh and delicious and the setting was just like you would picture in a movie. We shared 3 different pastas and they were all amazing. Treat yourself to a great meal here when in Rome. Enjoy!

One of our better meals in Rome because of diversity of choices and deliciousness, including fresh pastas with vegetables. My only complaint was the Vignorola had frozen peas in it, rather than fresh. Otherwise it was a perfect meal (though one person ran the entire floor for taking order and bringing them out, it was an amazing feat!). Tip, in... More

Our family of 8 just made it in without a reservation at about 7pm when they open. To accommodate is, we sat at 2 tables of 4. Super grateful they squeezed us in. The food was awesome. Everyone was very impressed. If they have it, the "Oxtail Stew" is to die for. My only complaint is that the space is... More

Really good food here. Get here early or get reservations or you will be standing awkwardly in the street trying to get a waiter's attention. The place is small, like so many restaurants in Italy. The tables are tight, but that just adds to the ambience! As the title reads, great carbonara. My wife had the veal which was also... More

Such a lovely little restaurant, tucked away in the streets behind the Colosseum. It felt very Italian and non-touristy. Delicious food which came quickly and was very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

A good find. Comfortable, no-frills interior (no terrasse). Efficient, pleasant service. And fantastic food, including real Roman dishes. Lovers of lamb's liver should try the "coratella," which is a more appetising name than "innards with artichoke hearts" -- though that's what it is. We hesitated, but are glad we went for it. Cacia e pepe pasta and guinea fowl with... More

Can't rate the food as we walk out twice without being served. Concierge at the Inn of the Roman Forum suggested the place and tried for a reservation. Was told for us to be there at 7/p and we would be seated. We were there at 7/p. Two tables were empty / set and a third had the be cleared.... More

We came here in passing and liked the look the place. Although seated immediately from the start we felt that we were there to do the waiting staff a service and not the other way round. The food was though in all fairness of an excellent standard, with the fagioli & pasta soup the best I have ever tasted by... More

A bit off the beaten path but our hotel suggested this as a place that locals go. It was outstanding. The Tortellini soup has a base that was the best I've ever tasted. We tried several dishes and shared them--nothing disappointed and we ate everything put in front of us long after we stopped being hungry. We ate just for... More
