Very close to the Colosseum you find this nice place. It doesn't look much for the world when you se it, but the food is wonderful. It's genuine Italian and not one of many tourist traps you find in the neighborhood. The food is mor than worth the money.

I've eaten here the past several years every time I am in Rome. It is out of the way, unpretentious, but with excellent classic Roman dishes.

Really 3½ stars. Pasta primi was good. Oxtail stew secondi also good, though more tomato-ey than I'd had in other countries. House wine just fine. Prices more than fair. They do not take credit cards. (Could matter if you're trying to utilize your Euros before departing the Euro zone, as we were - wrongly assuming that all the restaurants take... More

We went to this place which was hard to find based on trip adviser reviews. Unfortunately our experience did not match the reviews. We were shown to a table, but did not receive a menu for some time. Granted the restaurant was busy with many locals and Italians. When we did finally get a menu and were ready to order,... More

Luckily we turned up just after 19.00 hrs as this place filled up in no time and people were being turned away by the dozen. Very good authentic Roman food, excellent staff, really good value drinks (1 litre of wine for 8 Euros, a bottle of Prosecco for 14 Euros).

We read the reviews and were staying just round the corner so it was a must to try. We were lucky to get in staright away. Seconds later and we might not have made it! My advice would be to book or go early. If there's no table do persist as it's well worth the wait. A very relaxed family... More

This restaurant serves very good traditional Italian food at a reasonable price. The place is very small so make sure you make reservations. Approximately a 10 minute walk from the Colosseum.

I must say I've very rarely had bad food in Rome; however, some places are more touristy than others and that is not the case at Taverna Romana. I had dinner there with Italian friends who live in Rome and was not disappointed. The service is friendly and fast, the choice of food simple but very tasty. I've tried their... More

Did you ever taste. <La gricia ai carciofi> ? It is a pasta dressed with artichocks and pecorino, that here was wonderful. The house-vine is perfect. The delicious desserts are home-made. The price is LOW ! Also the bread deserves a plus: never found so good in Rome...

Our hotel was just around the corner and we saw this restaurant being always full, and had to try it lf course! Seems like a family business and very friendly service (not always so in Rome...) and the food was simply delicious! As we wanted to have both pasta and a secondim we asked if it was OK to share...
