Taverna Romana, near the Forum, was a superb experience. We went twice in 6 days. It is not a tourist trap by any means. First night we were the only non-Italians there; second time there were two other couples of non-Italians. Great local Italian food. English menu. We were treated wonderfully; smiles all around. Some unique dishes headed by oxtails... More

Second night in Rome and ate dinner here on advice of Rick Steve's Rome book. Real authentic food at a reasonable price. Staff was swamped, but attentive. Very small space in restaurant so be prepared to make friends with your neighbors. Felt like I was dining at a friend's house. Everything that my husband and I ate was great. Pasta... More

Small restaurant, looks very authentic but is a place focused on tourists. Quality of the food is ok, good value for money. The restaurant has no terrace and inside it was very hot. When you pass by it is ok, not worth making a detour.

It was a little hard to find at first, bu my husband and I had the best meal of our lives here on July 29 2014. I had the spaghetti alla carbonara and the succulent lamb chops. We had the house white wine which was very tasty. Then tiramisu for dessert. I would definitely love to visit this restaurant again... More

We had lunch in this lovely restaurant after reading an online review. It really was a breath of fresh air from some of the dodgy Rome tourist trap restaurants. Tasty, simple food. Restaurant is very busy with lots of locals so service is a bit rushed but that is the nature of the restaurant. Superb lunch!

I read a small article in a 2010 Budget Travel magazine and swore I would stop here to eat if I ever got to Rome. Well, fate would have you that our apartment was not that far and not only did I get here once, but twice! It was that delicious!!! I even saw the owner, and stopped her to... More

We had dinner here last week and it was great! Very small place, very authentic you feel like a local. It is in the Monti area, just a few minutes from the city centre but you fell like you are miles away. Great wine and pasta and great dollar value.

This little gem was situated on an unassuming street not too far from the Coliseum. It was a nice unassuming little restaurant with a quaint charm. The menu is simple and well-priced. The food was delicious. It was a nice break from those cookiecutter restaurants with the hosts always trying to lure you in. Highly recommended!

Great place for an informal but delicious lunch. Carbonara was fantastic! Reasonably priced and very good food! The service was fine- the waitress spoke no English but we succeeded in ordering by pointing to the menu items we wanted. Menu was in English. House wine was good and inexpensive.
