Accross the street from the Basillica @ Maria Maggiore. I would like to warn others that they should not "be seated" while waiting for their Gelatto. Was charged 34 Euro ($50.00US) for four Gelatto cones because we sat in the chairs outside (they told us to go sit and wait while they brought us the cones) the restaurant.

Worst ice cream in Italy

We had a Copeta after dinner and provably one of the worst ice cream I ate in Italy. The ice cream was almost melted and had pieces of ice floating around. Paid 2 euros for a small copeta.

They advertise a fixed price for pizza, and drink at 12 euros but then bring drinks which are not covered by the fixed price but don't tell you. At the end of the meal the scam comes to light and tried to charge us £48 for a meal which actually cost £30. They also tried to charge us for two... More

We saved this till the last day as a treat, and was really worth it. After getting some kind of cold treat everyday, can easily say this was the best.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighborhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighborhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighborhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic center. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
