Delicious meal, excellent service, great location near our lodging in trastevere. Wide selection on the menu. Decor was comfortable and authentic.

This is a proper restaurant, not a tourist trap, over priced cafe, who don't care if you don't come back, of which sadly there are plenty. After a couple of bad choices, we decided to look at TripAdvisor first and found Marco G. Happy Days! Everything about the restaurant from the decor to the service says that they care, value... Great restaurant. Service was brilliant. Fit out was great (romantic and cosy). Wine was perfect. The food was ok but only because we were trying to experiment and ended up picking things we weren't sure about. We had the salmon bruschetta to start which was lovely, the cabonara was good but I felt the pasta was too undercooked but the... More

I went with my wife and in-laws to have a nice Easter dinner as the reviews here are overwhelmingly positive. I thought I was going to get some really nice food and good value too. Unfortunately the place was overprized compared to what I expected. My dad in law ordered some ravioli and he got literally just a handful and... More

We didn't enjoy much, but to be honest, it is not a touristic place and they know what they do. The waiter brought us 2 kinds of cheese in order to explain their difference, he was so professional and so aware.

My wife and I ordered the set taster menu (4 course). Exactly as advertised. For the first time in my life, I had to throw away uneaten food at a restaurant - there was just too much. Service was terrific, despite my research on differing standards from home. This isn't the greatest food you will ever have, but it is... More

I came with my family last night and the food was delicious! We had cold cuts and fried artichoke for starters which was the best starter I've ever had in Rome! For main course I had octopus which was a bit overpriced for it's portion but it was very good. The atmosphere was nice, it was quite crowded but it... More

When in Rome go to Mario G. Do not walk, run. We arrived at !0 pm with a party of six and were quickly accommodated even though the establishment was very busy. I love red wine but know nothing of Lazio wines. The owner suggested a very reasonably priced bottle and it was great; nose, taste, and finish. Bravo! We... More

This restaurant was one of my best experiences in Rome. The food is relatively expensive but a very good deal for the quality of food and excellent service you will be receiving. We came at a busy hour and had no reservation so it took a while to be seated, but this is understandable. I would suggest making a reservation.... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
