Unusual place!

Promoted by the Comunità di Sant'Egidio, this trattoria is run by young people with dissabilities together with pros. This makes it different in a very nice way: The Sommelier? he's very knowledgeable on Italian wines...but... he's doesn't drink!!! Try their Sicilian house wine Planeta (La segreta... read more

Authentic Italian food in a really fun setting. The terrace is in a great location, right in the middle of all the fun. The food is good and the value is great!

You might fear helping a charitable organization means putting up with mediocre food, but not here! Well made, classic Roman cooking here in a friendly atmosphere. We'll be back for another Sunday pranzo I'm sure!

I was in Rome on a study-abroad with Community of Sant E'gidio. The community worked out some kind of deal with the restaurant and we ate here on most days for lunch, occasionally dinner. This gave of us all the opportunity to explore all of the dishes on the menu, all were excellent. I am gluten-free and I never felt... More

This is a great place to have true Roman food, and it has a lovely view into the piazza. Some of the highlights were the fried zucchini flowers, suppli, and cacio e pepe -- a poplular Roman pasta dish. The restaurant employs people with disabilities who work alongside professionals, and the service is excellent.

Giving onto a small plaza in Trastevere this local initiative gives people with disabilities the chance to work together with professionals. The result is great roman traditional food in a very nice setting. One of the best meals I had in Rome. Highly recommended.

Great Restaurant, in the spirit of the Roman style, small plaza , table outside, with the entire real life on the roman style, you will taste the REAL local food, try the Polpetta Di Zucchini. from appetizer to desert , a simple balade to a flavor experience. Romano carciofi (artichokes) will melt slowing... The vin from the house ( Vino... More

Walked around Trastevere looking to try a different restaurant again,. found this on the corner, and read the menu, looked good and for a worthy cause. The meal was OK, the lasagna a little overcooked. We enjoyed the atmosphere under a tree, and the service was OK, maybe a little slow, but still OK. My wife had a seafood pasta... More

Found this place in the really nice Trastevere district, reviews were good, and their charitable ethos sounded perfect. Pity about the food though. Mussels to start, at least 50% empty shells, then pasta with clams (one of my favourites) was far too salty. Better half had ravioli, undercooked with a bland tomato sauce.

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
