Great food and great social benefit

Nice quiet square in Trastevere, close to the bigger noisy squares of the neighborhood but with character of its own. We discovered this place with great food and service, some original dishes and old favorites. I loved the lasagna. We also liked their mission and coop business model.

We arrived in this restaurant by chance, looking for a (not too) typical roman restaurant not too crowded; it's in a small quiet square in Trastevere, we had an excellent dinner at a reasonable price and while we were waiting for our food, we read the info on the paper table cloth and learnt that part of the staff were... Great food and reasonable wine in a friendly atmosphere, and supporting a wonderful project with the helpers.

We stumbled across this place quite by accident on our last night in Rome and wish we had found it sooner. We learned that the restaurant employs disabled staff and is part of a community project / collective to do so, which is marvellous. The food was excellent and the service was very good too. Would definitely go back.

We really enjoyed the vening here. I can't remember what we ordered, but I do remember being very impressed both by the food and by the way in which the mixed able/handicapped team looked after us. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and I wouldn't hesitate to return when in Trastevere.

I feel terrible about giving such a low score, because this is a restaurant with a CAUSE, if ever you can find one! All the staff is very helpful, and you really notice the support provided to the disabled people working there, and they are fast and efficient. It makes you feel good! But the food is really (very) bad,... More

We have eaten here several times, and always been happy. The USP is that it employs disabled people, and that is good. But it stands on its own as a great place for a relaxing weekend lunch. There are interesting dishes and great wine, and we can thoroughly recommend it.

Avoid this restaurant as the food is terrible. It's not often I rate a restaurant this low but the food was shocking. I know it's a good cause but I would never come back. The entrees were cold when they were meant to be deep fried and they were just something in a batter... Yuck...the clam spaghettini was ok but... More

The idea of the association is really nice. Unfortunately the food were quite standard. Nothing to complain but not outstanding...

This trattoria supports a very good cause and I am sure that I shall return to it for that reason. But the food was disappointing; the wine was better and worth the price. The pasta seemed overcooked and the saltimbocca did not leap into my mouth and nearly remained on the plate to be sent back: the meat was rubbery.... More

Staying in Trastevere

Neighborhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
